1992 SE Auto yep i got another maxi

so i just got a

92 se aztek red auto.

180,000 miles, a NC car all its life

its in dire need of some TLC.

im giving it to my mom for christmas (HENCE AUTO)

so today, i ripped out all the interior, cuz it was fen nasty and stunk.

i have plenty of parts form my 90 se parts car. so im replacing the seats, carpet, dash, mostly everything. , i even washed the inside of the car. it looks damm good without carped!!!!

Since the car is for your mom (and not for racing) I would throw in some Dynamat and really make the interior quiet.

Good job finding and Aztec Red VE, even if it is an AT.

I would see if Matt has any input. I believe he has a nice system and Dynamat in his car.

I would think the trunk and floors, especially where there isn't any factory stuff. would be a good start.

A lot of noise comes through from the trunk area. Drive it on the freeway without the trunk carpet in there and see the difference.

Very true. I dont even have a system and I have my whole trunk done in Brown Bread from b-quiet.com. Good stuff and very affordable. Makes a world of difference in cabin noise.

just a thought, home depot/lowes sells something called Peel n' Seal, it's actually more of a roofing product, but it's the same thickness as that b-quiet brown bread/ultimate, at about 20% of the cost, and rolls on with a roller or by hand just like any other product.

i did the section from the buckets of the back seats, all the way up and around my rear deck area. did pretty good.

another thing i did before i decided i wanted to shed weight, was inject latex deadening foam into the body through the rear pillars, that helped decrease road noise incredibly.

I'm all about going the cheap route, as long as it's done right and works just as good as the expensive route, so if i were you, and i was doing this for my mom, not some audio engineer or gofast guy, i would look into that Peel 'n Seal stuff. it comes in 25 sq ft rolls priced at 12 - 15 bucks when i got them....

go check out this thread, it's a long Q&A thread about the PnS stuff, and comparisons and such....also before and after pics and results

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/gene...al-n-seal.html

hope i helped!

Ah yes, the old cracked black pastic lookalike thing. I'm sure that was once sound deadening as well lol. I got a lot of it off when I installed my system
