Cooling Fans

My fans are slowly dying. Their bearings are starting to squeal louder and louder. Is it cheaper to replace/fix the motors or do I need to replace the whole fan assembly.......

tks in advance......

I belive you can go to an autoparts store and just get the fan motor...IIRC, they usually run about 30 bucks for the average american car. You can probably just pick up the whole fan assembly for that much at the JY and just bolt on a couple of 10mm bolts.

The motors are close to $100 each at autozone. yeah expensive as these motors rarely go out on 3rd gens...

I suggest not trying to jury rig a different motor in their place as you might run into electrical compatiability issues. As already stated your best bet would be to find a local salvage yard for a replacement cooling fan assembly.

If u go to the junk yard just make sure the blades spin freely and see if you can wobble the blade up and down. Should be tight and turn smoothly. I usually look for one with the lowest mileage.

I wish I had known about the $100.00 offer sooner. I replaced both motors. A easy job!!!!! The car runs a whole lot better. I always thought that squealing noise was coming from the compressor, but I was wrong.

I paid $180.00 for both motors, even though only the passenger side was bad.
