Just did a transmission drain and refill

My transmission shifts excellent. I have heard how these automatics are kinda weak and prone to fail. My fluid was dark and I wanted to keep it shifting good so i did a drain and refill. Didn't want to flush since I am unsure of the last if any service the tranny had and I am at 120K. Mine doesn't have a pan on the bottom just a plug on the tranny. That b1tch was so tight I had to use a hammer on the ratchet to break it loose. It drained about 3 quarts out. I put a quart of Lucas and the rest just D/M. I think the plug was half stripped cause I coated it with teflon tape and tightened it back up, but it didn't seem to wanna get tight like it was before. I got it pretty snug so I will leave it be and check it from time to time. Man, this thing shifts like butter now. You can't even feel the shifts.

yeah seems pretty easy. probably take the line coming out of the radiator and make that the inlet for external cooler then the out from the cooler to the tranny. so hopefully the fluid will cool off some in the radiator and then hit the external cooler for additional cooling.

btw i swear that my last VG had a pan on the bottom for the tranny with a plug. this one doesn't. just had a plug directly on the tranny. so there was no pan to drop to access any screen or filter.
