I want to do this, but I afraid to damage something. I got some of that foamy-brite stuff, but I'm not sure what to spray and not to spray.

Read the bottle, it should say something about not spraying hoses. You can pretty much go to town on the engine, try not to soak the hoses and don't get it on the exterior of the car as it will strip the wax off.

What I do is just cover the air intake or air box..which ever you have. I also cover the battery terminals just in case(I don't think you actually have to do that). I also covered the injectors(I think that's what it's called). I also covered a few things that looked like they might have some electrical connections exposed.

To cover everything I used either aluminium or plastic wrap(the kind you use for sandwiches).

You should try using simple green instead. It cleans better
and it won't make your car smell bad for a week like engine degreaser will. O ,get the regular kind not the automotive kind.
