Also, do you think modest aftermarket headunits (no amps or subs) are prone to being stolen compared to factory stereos?

 

 

Get an aftermarket headunit with a detachable face, or one with autohide or something of that nature. Detachable would be the best way to go, because without the face plate, the unit is pretty much useless. Just don't loose your face plate or get it stolen instead. The face of the headunit will cost you almost as much as the entire headunit if you loose it depending upon what kind you decide to get. You can get some pretty cheap headunits with detachable faces now days. And I would definitly advise you to go with an aftermarket system instead of a Bose. For one, they are much more versitile as far as adding on, and building up. And two if something goes wrong or blows, you don't have to go looking for far-and-in-between Bose pieces. My aftermarket system sounds SO much better than my Bose did. Just my $.02.
