clear corners

i was just wondering after reading so many threads the past couple of months. what purpose are the clear corners? is there a purpose or are they just for the look. my friend got em and they look like the standard thing to me. maybe i'm just not paying enough attention.

They get rid of the.....

yellow/orange turn signal indicator and I think the corner bulb lens is "clearer" than the OEM lens. I think they look much better than the OEM equipment too!
