Removing The Bose Assembly from the Rear Panel & Starting the System Over…
To the resident Maxima Gurus amongst us…
I have an 1989SE 5sp whose previous owner did some mods to the car, but didn't bother to remove the Bose amp assembly from the rear deck of the car. I want to get rid of it myself, but I can't figure out how to get to the rear panel and get to where I can get the damned thang out. I'm not exactly sure as to what the previous owner did to/with the front speakers, but they sound okay. When I went to remove the 6x9's that were back there, I found a couple of Kenwood 6800 series speakers, 210W max handling capacity. The original Bose head unit was removed, and a Kenwood AM/FM Cassette unit was installed, with CD-Changer control. I got a free Kenwood CD-Changer from my little brother, and although its the FM-Modulated model, it works fine with the Kenwood CD-Changer cable and the current head unit putting in work as the controller for the changer. I want to add a couple of Kicker C-10's in a ported enclosure that I have left over from my previous ride (I am a converted Accord owner). I would also like to run up to 2 amps in this car, unless I can find a good multi-channel setup that I can primarily feed to my fronts and rear stage, and kick a bit to the C-10's in the trunk.
But first things first - Can anybody tell me how to get the Bose amp assembly off my rear deck so I can get started? I would like to keep the stock Bose grilles intact (I want to keep it as stock looking as possible). All advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

that's a good link I found by searching for "rear speaker" with teh search function (in the upper right hand corner)
you'll need to take out the rear seat in order to get to those speakers
for the fronts, you have to take off the door panel (directions are on my site - click on the link below in my sig)
Many thanks, bro!
Thanks for the link and the advice.
BTW - your ride is the shiznit! And your site is tight, too! Where should I look for the instructions for the removal of the door panels on your site. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place.
Thanks again!

for some reason, the main page is loading really slowly, but it still does work eventually
click on the link in my signature (next to the car) or homepage link under my name on the left side
once you're there, clikc on "how-to" on the left side
from teh list that will come up, choose "window regulator replacement"
follow the steps (1-6) on that page
here is a direct link too just in case

email me if you have any questions/problems

KlimaxSE,
I was able to get to my speakers from the trunk, but the Bose assemblies that were there became a problem, as far as decent sound is concerned. The previous owner of my car put some Kenwoods back there, and they sounded HORRIBLE bolted to the Bose assembly. Most notably, I had NO BASS from the 6x9's that were back there.
Thanks to Craig B's suggestions, I was able to remove the assemblies (since there are two separate ones) from the rear deck this past weekend. Getting those hooks near the top of the back seat are a pain to get out by yourself, but I did it.) My next obstacle is to install the 6x9's that I already have back there. I noticed that after removing the panel and the Bose assemblies, the stock opening won't accomodate 6x9's too well, neither from the top nor bottom mount, but look as though it will accomodate 5.25" - 6.5" speakers back there. I'd hate to have to go and buy some other speakers to put in the back right now (because I still have to crack open the front to see what's up there, and if I'm going to have to buy some 6.5" speakers, they're going up front!).
The Kenwood 6x9's I have are 4-ways, so the stock opening doesn't work too well with them. Any suggestions? I have a couple of adapters to fit 4x6 space to 6x9 speakers that I had to remove from an old car I had. I also had a pair of Audiobahn 6x9's that were only 3-ways, but the woofers on them kicked like 8-10" subs in the rear deck (those speakers handled 400W max and sounded better than I thought they would), but my brother and I may have broke them when we were trying to install them before I removed the Bose assemblies (yeah, OUCH!). The 'adapters' look like spacers, and seem to give enough room for the woofer and all of the tweeters to be mounted under the rear deck, but I have yet to install them. I may only have to drill a couple of holes back there. If anybody has any suggestions, or a better way to handle this situation, please let me know.
