Yet again, I come to submit another query before the Maxima gurus amongst us…
Has anyone had a problem with their speedometer suddenly falling to zero while driving on the highway? For some reason, I am having this problem lately, and I'm not sure what I need to do about it. There are no symptoms, and there is no warning. It's starting to me off because I'm having a hard time telling what kind of gas mileage I'm getting out of my tank!!! Anybody have any advice?

Thanks in advance!

Speedo problems are common with the 3rd Gen Maximas. 2 main causes are faulty sensor or faulty dash assembly. I would pick the later if you have an intermittent fault. It is usually caused by dry solder joints on the speedo assembly. An easy fix you can do yourself if you are handy with a soldering iron. Do a search, there should be plenty of info on this subject.

Once again, the gurus have spoken, and I have been enlightened!

Thanks, Brent! I'll look into it.

BTW - Does anyone have the latest edition of the Chilton's manual for the 3rd Gen Maxima? I'm just curious as to what y'all think of its usefulness. It's helped me out as far as learning more about this machine we all got involved with!

You guys are great! I never have to wait too long before somebody replies to my questions.
