Damn... that's going to be a quick car!!! Can't wait!!!! Now if Nissan would just give the car a body as good-looking as the 3rd gen in modern cues they would be onto something. I just can't get warmed up to the latest bodystyle.

naw

I think that the SE lights look pretty cool on the charcoal grey, green, and black cars. As for the GXE & GLE, I think that those do look ugly, but I like the car! I wonder how much that baby's going to cost. Also I heard that the 20th anniversary edition has 227 HP, is this true? When I get out of school, I'm buying a 260hp grey max SE. I'm going to drop it, put new rims on it, body kit, mild tint, dress up the engine with yellow tubing, get a headlight amp so I can run neon whites, K&N airfilter, and time will tell what I'll do to improve the performance of the engine. Muhoohahahahaha! It will be a force to recon with!

I think the tail lights need work on the design too! In the maxima booklet when they show just the tail light it reminds me of a neon! Other wise its looks sweet.

Someone tell me the specs, but I talked to a Nissan technician about the 00 Max's, the 222hp and all and what I had done so far to my 89. He said the the 3rd gens especially, are lighter. That when they upped the hp on the 00, the upped the weight of the car too. Thus, anyone know their physics? The car ain't all that! He said that a 3rd gen would give a 00 a run for it, big time. Now, on the 02...260? Sounds to me like they are trying to keep up with Acura, huh? Nissan falling behind? I wondered when they were going to wake up! That new Acura CL type S was calling me, ya know? I just hope Nissan don't disappoint us!

Acura CL Type S

Yes it is one bad *** car, BUT it's two doors and can not hold 4 people as comfortably as a max, little less 5! That car has seating for 4, but it's more like a 2+2. I sat in the back seat of one before and it was not comfortable, especially if your tall. Now the Acura TL is the 4 door version of the CL, but they don't offer the 265hp engine that's offered in the Type S. The CL got VERY poor reviews from Motor Trend because "it's too unstable in the corners" and "the power just isn't there." The TL has the 225hp engine, but I guess it didn't feel sporty at all to the testers b/c they didn't think it was sporty at all. I haven't driven the CL, but the Type S is like a huge TI**Y being shoved in your mouth when you're dying of thirst! I loved it! Damn! I'm getting horney now! I'll be back in a few.

Nissan just needs another sports coupe. I think a 240SX type car with rear wheel drive and a VQ30 stuffed under the hood would be perfect! Priced around $24K.
As for Nissan trying to compete with Acura with the Max, why would they do that? That is why they have the Infinity Lineup.

Just made yourself look stupid.... I asked if anyone knew the specs. A technician told me the 00 was heavier, I didn't believe it. I only wrote what he told me to find out. Perhaps you need some hooked on phonics bud to help you out on this forum? Max's ARE awsome, or I wouldn't be here"BOOOOOO Yaaaa!!!!"

'02 bigger engine = bigger price tag?

any idea how much more the '02 Max will cost? Is that engine the same one that they just put in the Pathfinders?

It's a shame I won't be able to transplant my Level 10 tranny over to it.

I guess I'll just have to do some serious work to my VG, maybe even talk to a VG expert about making it a 3.5L and up the compression, maybe 12:1? 3#-)

what about the altima???

my question is the altima going to get the VQ30DE? 190 hp or 222? If that is the case I'd take an altima because it is just about the same size as a 3rd gen just a bit shorter. Slap stillen's sc or jwt's turbo on that thing and the extra .5L of dsiplacement the maxima has just won't be an issue with all the added weight..

WHAT???

This blows!! 3 litre engines are big enough! They should up the power without having to resort to chevrolet/buick thinking! Look at 'bad ***' american cars with 3.5 - 5.0 litre engines. They sound like crap, consume lots of gas, and are very non-efficient in the long run. Nissan used to be an engine company, so why don't they just put in something like Honda's VTEC or BMW's VANOS technology. They shoudl be able to do it. Just my .02 $$$
