aggrivating, isn't it?

I am completely steamed...My tranny blew up, too.. The shop has had it for 2 months now! They claim they're looking for a new one to put in, but I wish they would just rebuild it. This is the second time this has happened, and the first replacement was still on warrenty! In the meantime, I have to drive my sister's car..A Dodge Shadow.....EEEEW! Is there something seriously wrong with Maxima Transmissions? All I know is, I'm praying that someone with a good tranny will crash soon so I can have it.

Well......

you can get the Transgo shift kit($50), or if you you want a more performace oriented shift kit look into a Level 10 valve body($700) and a Protorque high stall TC($500)...should shed some serious tenths off you ET! check these sites for more info-->

for you guys wondering why your trannies are dead, I'm guessing you have 89-91s, right? (most of the tranny problems are with those models.. nissan did something to the 92-94 trannies to help beef them up.

I'm parting out my 93.. it's got a good tranny in it. there's a guy I talked to this weekend about buying everything that's left (including engine/transmission)... if that doesn't go through, then I've still got the tranny for sale. email me if you're interested.

Matt,

Did I asked you about this before? I think you said it will not work on mine. I got the 1994 SE DOHC locking diff 5 spd transmission.

let me know..

How come there are no mods for the 5 spd transmission?

they used the transmission in th89-91 maxima se and upto 94 gxe or to make it easier (anything with a VG)for many years i beleive all the way back to 1985. it is a great transmission its fine for the simple bolt on mods and low level nitrous apps but turbos. and stuff like that you will find that it cringes at these thing as it was not designed for that. same thing with the5spd maxima transmissions the bearings just dont hold up my budy has had a set already on his 92 se maybe its because hes got probably 230+hp NA ecu bolt ons etc. but geeze even his motor mounts are gone these are things we must live with but it isnt the transmissions fault. thats my whole point so dont get mad at the maxima for its transmission think of the hell it must go through with our lead feet i think about it and go wow. but anyways i got a reman unit for my 91 from TRC out of seattle i lost their phone number but i have invoices in my tool box I paid 1300.00 for my trans my cost. and my labor to install it it also came with a torque converter. and 20k mi hard driving and has a good solid shift not soft like the factory I like it pop it into comfort and its softer.
