yea sorry, the Ae mod is just what ive been calling it, it is the ann ed. headlight trim on the inside of the glass. all u do is paint the trim on the sides of the reflectors, it looked good on the 4th gen, hopefully it will look good on ours, but ill post pics to be sure that it isnt a waste of time for others to try

They aren't projectors....
And you're right, it won't be very visble.

i don't think this will work on our cars. the 4th gens have the clear, projector style headlights. we have a glass that is kinda murky. but i'd be interested to see how it turns out!

All Maximas have a regular parabolic reflective lens. In 1/2/3rd Generations (I think 95-96 too), the beam pattern was created and manipulated strongly in part to the outer lens of the headlamp, which is why you see the lines in the glass, and why the glass is so thick (relatively)
Starting in '97, the headlamps were designed in such a way that the parabolic lens and reflectors inside the lamp create and manipulate the beam pattern. Therefore, the outer lamp lens could be clear, which gives a cleaner, more futuristic and sylish look.
In both cases, the lamp bulbs are designed with two filments. Each one is in a specific location inside the bulb, both are offset from one another and a different distance from the center of the bulb. When the low beam filment is illuminated, the light is reflected of the lens and produces a set beam pattern from that location. When the high beam filment is illuminated, its changed location hits the lens from a different angle, producing a higher and broader beam pattern, in addition to that filment being a higher wattage.
Projector-style lens are basically a thick, round lens that focuses the light beam to a very narrow band. They also can be designed to make the light beam seem to cut off at the top at a certain location. This is what you see in many BMW HID lamps, as well as the S2000's HID lamps, because HID is so bright that engineers want to keep the light out of other driver's eyes.
Now, do you want to know why Xenon and Halogen bulbs produce whiter light?? )
