Servicing Cruise Control

The unit that drives the cable to the throttle body, can it be serviced or is it a sealed unit, throw away and replace?

On cold days, the cruise control won't always release when you press the cancel button on the steering wheel (although you can hear the relay clicking and the speed does slow down some) and of recent times the resume / accelerate button hasn't been working. On warm to hot days it works no problems.

I suspect the unit is sticking and thus not releasing. Anybody have any experience with these?
