My LSD seems very moody and works when it wants. Can this be because of my bad wheel sensor or ****ed up clutch. Also I just put my stock wheels on too! I only leave one strip but going up my freinds steap dirt driveway slow I felt it working! Maybe its in my head Also my camber is off alot on my left wheel I tink

 

What year/model do you have, and when you say "wheel sensor" do you mean vehicle speed sensor? The only 3rd gens with LSD are the 92-94SE both auto and 5spd. "If" your LSD is going bad I honestly don't think a bad wheel sensor or vehicle speed sensor can cause it. Wheel sensors only reports to the ABS module the speed of the wheels and which one turning slower, i.e. about to lock up. Vehicle speed sensor reports to ECU how fast you're going. Now, can a bad clutch cause a LSD to go out or act funny? I'm not too sure on this one but my guess will be no it can't. If you're not driving a 92-94 SE or have a after-market LSD installed, you owe me lunch for my time, j/k

 

I have a 92 SE 5 Speed. I think its the clutch because ever since the clutch went bad I cant light up both wheels but when taking it easy in the dirt I feel it working. I will take u out to lunch anyway if u lived near me

 

Sorry if any of this will sound dumb, since I don't even OWN a Max yet, but this problem's kinda wierd. I can't really see how a clutch by itself can do anything to a LSD, unless there's some problem created during the installation of it. In the Max I read that it's a "viscous" type LSD, meaning that it's got a couple of vanes bathed in fluid somewhere to even power distrubution. They work almost exactly like the vanes in a torque converter, so that if the speed diff between the vanes gets too big (slipping), one of them starts swirling enough fluid to get the other vane moving too. So this is a purely mechanical thing that doesn't involve fancy sensors or anything. Maybe check the fluid (oil) level isn't low in your transmission or the LSD if it has a separate fill. (Unless it's a sealed unit that's started leaking....?? )

Also, which wheel exactly does all the spinning on pavement? Is it the left wheel with the weird camber, or the okay one? This shouldn't matter, but info helps.
