look on ebay. do a search for 19XX maxima... many things will come u;p..it will amaze you. A shop was doing a continual austion for a brand new rebuilt trnas with warranty. looks clean. now if it is out of state for you. shipping will be high..but still you would pay less than if you went up the road..as well there is a core fee..but Im sure soemthing could be worked out to ship your back..worth looking into!!!

I would seriously question the quality of a rebuilt tranny for $400. the PARTS alone to rebuild an auto tranny correctly cost nearly twice that much, and that's before getting into bearings and gears and the like.
a bearing and synchro kit for my 5 spd cost almost $500, so just imagine what it would be to replace all the clutches and wear items AND the bearings in an auto- then tack on the labor.. $400 is nothing compared to what a legit rebuild would cost, not to mention the time lost swapping trannies to find out the hard way those trannies are junk.

If they're great, then I'm glad, but I feel it's at least necessary to point out the price is just too cheap to be true for a quality part.

I bid on one of these trannies last December, and I was the only bidder. The only problem is that their reserve is much higher than $400, so they don't sell it to you. It's up to you to try though. Just FYI.

I've got a love/hate thing with that reserve bull crap! Just when U think you've got a bargain, you can't get it because you didn't meet the reserve, which in some instances, is almost twice as much as you bid!

I had my tranny rebuilt by local family of friend. shortly told he is no longer a freind of the family... Anyhow..the parts to rebuilt are between 300-400 true. I had to have my casing replaced to..seems it was worped..but prior to that... it was much more than 400 to rebuild..I paid 1,100.00 total.. And I know he paid 200 out of his pocket to have it taken out and put back in...so look around.. but make sure he knows what he is doing. Mine now has leak..so I have to take it back to him <<dreads it >>
