im looking to put a system in my ride next week. i am defentitly going for 2 12", and two channel amp for that, and 2 speakers on the back deck and a component set for the front door with a 2 channel amp for that. what size speakers have you used for your interior speekers. do you have 6x9's in the back or six" round? let me know what you guys think. i think i will buy soundstream speakers all around but i dont know what really what amps i should get. it will all be run by a kenwood KVT-910DVD. any suggestions?

Get 6.5" speakers in the back for sure. 6X9 is good if you don't have subwoofers as they provide better bass, but 6.5" speakers put out VERY nice mid and high range stuff. It's definetely worth while to get a component set too... a good tweeter will make all the difference in the world. As for amps, Rockford Fosgate Punch amps are always good, but someone made a good point about Kenwood amps, they run on 2 ohm load so if your subs are 4 ohm subs, it will effectively double your power with kenwood amps... most subs are 4 ohms. I have a Kenwood 300 watt powering my Alpine Type R and it sounds really good I think. Let me know if you have any more questions, I'm pretty good with systems...

fosgates are usually the amps to go with. ive also heard great reviews of the kicker amps. for subs check kickers, rf hx2's and if u can afford juggernats which ive heard are like the most expensive subs.

Only problem with rear speakers and subs is that the subs will tend to blow the #)(*!%$ out of the rear speakers, unless you seal the back of the rears off from the trunk. basically build a small shoebox sized box around them and you'll be okay. When I installed my system, I left the stock rear speakers in the rear deck, just let them unhooked.. first time I turned up the stereo, I blew one of the cones out from the air movement back there! DOH!

If you haven't bought subs yet, I've got a set of 3 JL 10W6s that I'll be looking to get rid of soon. They're several years old, but operate as they were new. the gaskets are kinda beat up from being in several installs in my various cars, but I've owned them since new (1996), and have always used a good amp to power them. (PPI A600.2, 600w mono)
let me know if you- or anyone else- is/are interested.

Edit: forgot pics.. here's my system out of the GXE. want to buy the amp rack? (Minus the amps, of course!)

Yea, I've got a little something in my ride. But, don't let a system go to your head, it could never sound better then a max redlining at 7.5 rpms!!! Check my trunk at www.competitiveaudio.com

Matt, I didn't know U were selling your setup. I figured U were dropping all that in your new Max. Drop me a line and let me know what U R looking for in the subs and rack. I've already got 1 10w0, but wouldn't mind having some more JL's.

I also have a system in my car with 2 12" subs and 400W amp. My back I do have 6.5's and would suggest not spending too much on these since in my car you can't hear them. It seems that the subs overpower them too much to spend a great deal of money. Spend a lot on the front compared to the back. (Nothing can make up for a bad receiver)

Just my $.02
