strange headlight problem, need help!!
ok, i've had my nokya arctic white headlights for about 6 months now, and they've worked pefect untill thursday. the driver's side keeps going out. so i'll pop my hood, wiggle around my harness, and it works fine again. today, i tried removing the bulb, and it was a pain to get out, it was stuck really bad in the harness. i finally got it out, and istalled my philips blue visions that i used to use, and they work perfect. how could that bulb mess up after working fine for months? could this still be a problem with my harness? what do you guys reccomend, i really want my "HID" look back, i hate the yellow bulbs!! help quick!!
WEll man your connector is starting to burn out. I had this same problem with mine. If you take the bulb out and look the ground wire is starting to burn. It is from running to high wattage light bulbs. Your best bet is to replace the connector and probley get new bulbs.

that's me!
I am almost always downtown every weekend. There are two 4th Gen buddies of mine who i usually hang out with down there. One is Will who owns a '96 SE Auto that is Black with Black Leather, and that wacked out Knight Rider light in the front, and the other is Bucky Howard who has the Cherry Red '96 GLE Auto with the Mille Miglia Evo II rims and multi colored front lights and tint. You should definately come down there this weekend. Many excuses for my car, i am wanting to get a Nismo front 6" strip as I am out of Streetsports now and starting a new club. On top of that some ******* hit my front drivers side corner light so I am replacing them with clears As soon as I sell some of my PA sound equipment, but I do have a rather unique 11" tall Supra style wing I have coming in the mail from James92SE on the 3rd gen forum in the next week, and will have that.
Anyways... hit me up on AOL at DJthrilla2 or drop me a ring at (859) 224-9551
Peace!

What wattage Nokya Bulbs made your sockets mess up? I currently have the regular wattage (9004 65/45W) Nokya Halogen bulbs. They are slightly blue. Will these bulbs fry my headlight wiring? Thanks.

Most likely not, the higher wattage bulbs tend to draw more current through the stock ground wires. You should be fine using the stock wiring, but the upgraded harness will let them run more efficiently... ie: Dimming when coming to a stop at a red light. Hope this helps.

harness + and -
A harness upgrade only strengthens the current if done correctly, however it is not like you are upgrading to HID compatibility with thicker cable or anything the upgrade is still just the same gauge of cable generally as stock and still using the lovely (not!) 9004 setup.
The problem lies in the grounding, and if the ground cables are not perfect it will fry the harness, thus having to replace the harness frequently.
Secondly I run Nokya 65/55 which actually run a wattage of 110/100 last time I checked. I am changing my setup though soon to the BMW headlights unless I choose to spend more money and go all out with the Hydo suspension kit I am thinking about. it is either that, or custom coilovers for me.
