Tire Width
Tire Width
Whats the widest tire I can put on the factory 15" rims?
I really want to get the BFG Comp TA VR4 but the smallest width (and only) I can find for a 15" rim is 235. Ive got Pirelli P600 (215/55-60?/15) on right now and Ive never had a problem with them but I have a feeling 235 is too big.
Also - if any body has a recommendation for a good performace/all season tires for around $100/tire...Im all ears.

Yeah, listen to Jeff, a 235 tire would need a 7.5 or 8" rim. Unless you're going only for straight-line performance, there's a limit on how wide a tire you should put on a given rim since if you say cram a 225 onto a 6.5" rim, you may get more rubber on the road, but the car may handle WORSE since the tire bulges out more and rolls around on the rim. At worst someone told me the rim can even cut into the sidewall. This is probably why even though they share 205/65 tires, the GXEs come only with 6" wheels while the SEs come with wider 6.5" wheels - to reduce sidewall rolling. HTH
