surprising..

a couple months ago a friend of mine bought a '91 Maxima GXE and since he got it hes been talking about how fast it is and such and blahlblah. hes since put some kind of intake on it as well as a high flow cat. i drive an '88 Tbird Turbocoupe 5-speed, totally stock and i raced him the other night, well...i did beat him but not by a whole lot. i was very surprised. makes me kind of wish i had waited and bought a Maxima SE now...heh, oh well..ill know next time =)

Dude you can mod the hell out of that turbo 4. Intercooler, svo stuff, up the boost, cams, header, bigger turbo. I've seen modded xr4ti's run mid 12's on the stock block/head. Since the block and head are iron, you can boost the living begeezes out of it.

the 91GXE has the VG engine (89-94GXE & 89-91SE) with 160HP and 182 ft/lbs of torque
92-94SE has VE engine with 190hp and 190ft/lbs so I bet that could take your Tbird any day (especially if the max is 5spd)

Yeah the turbo engine in the tbird is very easy to make faster, the only weak points are the cooling system and the fact that its a Ford and it breaks all the time =) i would imagine a Maxima SE is crazy insanely fast compared to the GXE i raced however, and will last much longer than the TBird. definitely my next car once the tbird is dead.

I've run one of those turbo T-birds before(when I was n/a) and I think I got him pretty good, probably 2 car lengths by 50 mph from a 25 mph roll on. Thats with the 190 hp engine, 5sp + an intake. Besides the fact that your car is a Ford, I respect the potential those cars have. I used to have a mustang and I almost bought an 85 SVO once. Cool cars and you can do a lot with them.

Well, the Tbird will soon be up to 18psi so then the maxima wont stand a chance!! heheheeh (sinister laugh)

My friend claims hes buying a supercharger for his engine, but i wouldnt think that there are any kits around for that model engine, do you folks know anything about this?

gaahhhhh...this is what i get for posting this here. the thunderbird got smashed up tonight by some poor driving non english speaking man in an escort service delivery lincoln town car...oh well.

on a much brighter note, i have another kill to report though, i beat my friends '88 Mustang in my '82 Honda Accord!! =)

...his car *was* a four cylinder/automatic though, but still...imagine anyone watching a rusted out ghetto fabulous turn of the century honda hatchback make a very nice and fast looking mustang its beeotch? proudest moment of my life!
