How come sometimes my auto tranny won't shift into OD??

Hi fellas, its really weird how i can be cruising and not have my tranny go into OD. I know that when the engine is cold or not sufficiently warmed up that the tranny won't go into OD, but my tranny seems to do this after its good and warm. I can be cruising at 55-60 and my tach is at 2300rpms. I dunno, but that seems high for the car to be in OD. OD should sit a little below 2000rpms, right??

Does this happen to anyone else?? Is this normal? Any fixes?? Way to check if something is wrong?

Thanks,
Kevin
