WOOHOO!! I fixed my door lock timer

I looked really close at my door lock timer and saw that one solder connection was SLIGHTLY discolored and cracked. I only resoldered that one connection and now my locks work great. I can't believe it. You know if you turn your key twice to unlock your door, the power locks unlock all the doors. Man, that's cool. Never had working power locks before. Sorry, I am just excited that I have power locks now. Thanks for reading.

my 89GXE did that - turn once for drivers door, turn it again and it unlocked all the doors

on my 93SE, I just turn it once and all of them unlock; not that I ever use the key anymore though because I have keyless entry
I'm not sure if I did something when I wired the keyless entry in that changed that, but I really doubt it (not intentionally anyway)

hhhmmm....I guess I have the retardo Maxima or something. My power door locks work with the button. And when I lock one of the front doors, it locks all thd doors. But unlocking the drivers door only locks that one door. So I have to unlock the driver door with the key, then use the lock/unlock button to unlock the rest of the doors. I also tried the turning it twice thing and it did nothing. Is this normal?

Well, I don't know what's the deal with your car James. When I go and unlock the driver's door with the key, it only unlocks that one door. But, if I turn the key again in the same direection, it unlocks all the doors. I think that's pretty cool. Of course, I don't have keyless entry. I test drove a 92 GXE w/ keyless entry and when I turned the key twice it unlocked all the doors. I just didn't expect mine to do the same.

According to the '93 owners manual, that's exactly how it's supposed to work. I never tried it until reading this thread, but mine work too! And all this time I've been reaching in and hitting the button!
Guess it pays to read the book...

I had the same problem. Previous owner had a car alarm installed and they removed a linkage on the drivers door. Don't know why.

Well guys, all weekend my locks have been working completely. I've been doing the turning the key twice thing and it has been unlocking all the doors. Weird huh? Maybe it was a fluke when they werent working....

Can anybody tell me where to find the door lock actuator because my power doors have not worked since I got the car and it does get aa little annoying reaching over to open the doors for people when you have power locks. How do you take it out and do you just use a soldering gun on all the wires or what?

hey, speaking of that little window button, mine used to work fine, and now, it only rolls down the window a quarter of the way! I have to push it like 4 times to get it down. And as for door locks, I hate when I get something out of my passenger side, because that lock will only lock that door, I have to reach in and hit the driver's side to lock all the doors! What's up with that?

diggityduglas,

When I push down the lock on the front passenger, it locks all my doors automatically. Try it.

abdiddy,

If none of your door locks work when you press the button and all you hear is two quiet clicks come from underneath the dash near the steering column .... it sounds like your Door Lock Timers are messed up. Since this has been talked about alot in the past, try a search.

i think diggityduglas means when he locks it from the outside.
