my mileage

I got a '91 Max, I get 300mi at each fillup

Hey, I heard that Nissan did recalls on some of the fuel injectors for 3Gen Max's? Anyone else hear the same thing? I'm thinking about pulling in my Max to the dealer to have them checked out.

If there is a defect with the injectors, the dealers should service them for free (I think Nissan reimburses them).

I compared 87 gas with 91 gas... I'm not really seeing a difference. I think I am going to do what dnas420 suggested(his suggestion should be on p.2 of thread).

I would probably get more than 300 a tank, but i have an extremly heavy foot and rice are everywhere up here. also its pretty hilly here and its pure city driving for me. im at 15 miles till 100,000. maybe I should park the car for a while
anyway, i think the tips given sound pretty good. I drive with overdrive off, when my parents use it they can get 50miles on less than an 1/8 of a tank, but they do top it off so...
anyway just my experience

Holy Cow most of you guys get terrible mileage! Either you guys are real lead-foot Louie's or I drive like a grandma!

I consistently get 25 - 27 miles per gallon in non-highway driving. And 27 - 29 mpg in steady hi-way. '94 VG-automatic. 78K miles, I've owned it for 15K. It probably has the original everything, because I haven't changed anything since I've owned it (exc oil & filter).

The most I've ever put in was 15.7 gallons. But, I record miles & gasoline amount every tankful.

Just yesterday I traveled from West Palm to Orlando & back, for a round-trip of 363 miles. This tank has 390 miles on it and I've got 1/8th tank to go. Cruise control on Interstate-95 at 77mph with AC on there & back.

---o---o---

Okay, just filled up this morning. 400 miles on 13.4 gallons = 29.85 mpg

That's interesting about how the tank has a reserve. I have definitely put more than 15.5 gallons in my tank before, I did it today. I believe I could easily go to 400 miles and beyond on one tank. I usually get around 23 miles per gallon, give or take a few, and usually fill up around the 350 mark. My gauge never goes completely to the top and it drops to 1/2 a tank in about 90 miles. You've got a problem if you can only go 250 miles on a tank of gas.

Any more solutions??

Has anyone found out any more solutions to the gas mileage problems? I am really interested in installing what ever it is to increase my fuel econ. Some people have said new injectors and a better airflow system will do it, but know that they are "some people" I'd rather talk to the big boys at Maxima.org.

I've heard that a product called BG44K works really well. It cleans out the insides of the engine (places where the fuel can go... hey! I'm a new guy, give me a break on the terminology).

My fuel econ still sux at about 280 to 300 per 14.5 gallon fillup and that's if I drive like grandma. I get 250 if I go seek little hondas and acuras to play with.

Check out BG44k at www.bgprod.com

That's around what I get. I am just getting use to it. I can still race, it's just that I can't race all the time. I find that if I only use my AC when it's above half a tank I get better mileage, but that could be just my max

im shocked at how poor gas mileage some of you guys are getting. 2 weeks ago i had a full tank and drove from nyc to syracuse (200+ mile distance) and had just a lil less than half a tank left. So im guessin i can do about 400 miles or so on a full tank.

1 question - does the cruise control affect your gas mileage? does it waste more, save more, or remain about the same?

I had some time to do research on that when I moved from Illinois back to Connecticut... Drove straight through on 3 tanks of gas... Don't remember the exact mileage, but most of the trip I set the cruise at 85mph, which I realized is the point where you get the most economy... I was pulling between 30-34 mpg with cruise at that speed.
When I hit the mountains, I set cruise for 95 (The highest it'll go) and was still getting 30mpg, and had a LOT of fun driving for the next 500 miles

lol thats some small gas tank. im pretty sure all 3rd gen max's have the same size tank - its just the way u drive that affects the mpg u put on it. i learned my lesson when i lost a quarter tank of gas in 20 miles on the grand central in queens - poor maxima has to suffer for my urges
