windshiled

hey i bought my car in a car auction and when i drive at night i can still see the number on it and all that stuff that they write on the windshiled, how can i clean the windshiled to get it off PLEASE HELP!!! THANKS

i install windshields for a living,well all auto glass for that matter,and if you cleaned it as best you can and tried a razor,then its stained,and you need a new windshield..sorry but luckily its not too expensive,and if you do end up gettin it replaced,make sure they prime it,they know what i mean,and if they dont it means your cars gonna rust so break their f'n jaw

what i mean by letters being there is that i took off the letters with the razor but when i drive at night and cars pass me i can see the letters like the i still there. like they left marks. what should i do. someguy told me to do it with toothpaste is that true please help

somethin to try....

I used to work detailing cars at a nissan dealership, and anything that i found that was hard to get off of a windshield i would use steel wool and glass cleaner.... so before you go get a new windshield give that a try....IT wont scratch glas....

I always thought you could polish out stuff like that in a windshield. Like if your car's old and has lots of little scratches in it you could polish it out with special paste and a pad that chucks onto a buffer or drill, either DIY or at a shop... no?
