Throttle hesitation while driving

Throttle hesitation while driving
OK, I don't have a 3rd gen myself, but a friend does. Hes just bought it. He reports that while driving, if he punches the gas, the car takes 2-4 seconds to respond. The motor doesnt rev up at all in this initial hesitation. When it is in neutral, the motor will respond as normal. The car had a vtc problem when he bought this and it was rebuilt, not replaced. The car is a Dec 1991 and managed to get a VE30DE motor, and is hooked to an auto. It has 100000km on te clock which would be about 60000miles. He also reports that in the initial warm up period from when the car is started, it goes really well, but then it seems to lose power when its warm. He has no check engine light either. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks from New Zealand.

Re: Throttle hesitation while driving
I don't know if your friend's max has a throttle body sensor or not, but that controlls the idle and rpms. I think normal replacement is 90,000 so you might have that checked. It normally runs about $75 to replace at a good shop. Does it idle funny anytime? Scott

Could be the temperature sensor that a lot of VEs seem to have a problem with. If you give it a clean the problem may go away. I don't have a VE myself so don't now where it is, but a search on this forum should unearth it.
