A short time ago, I bought a '94 GXE (Charcoal Gray) with 72,000 on the odometer. Since that time, I have enjoyed my car immensely. I am currently thinking of adding some PIAA 1900x driving lights to be mounted where the stock foglights are, PIAA SuperWhite Bulbs, upgrading the radio to an Eclipse 4441, changing the tires to BF Goodrich's Comp T/A HR4 or Michelin's XGT H4, possibly changing the struts to Tokico and getting the strut tower brace from Stillen.

The only issues I have is that "Maxine" tends to shimmy a little at speed and the exhaust flex tube has developed a pinhole (soon to be replaced).

The PIAA's are great lights.. (not that I own any) but if I was gonna spend the $$ PIAA would be the way to go.. Eclipse makes great HU's. good choice.. wish I could afford one .. at least the one I want ..muwhahaha...
TIRES.. get the BFG comp TA VR's.. not HR's. the VR's have the same wear rating and such as the HR's.. with a more aggressive tread pattern and better "stickyness".. I've got a set on my stock rims and love em..
Strut Brace.. check out the one from courtesy nissan.. http://www.courtesyparts.com Its like $70 or so nice piece as well not as fancy as the stillen but highly functional .. with the $$ leftover you could get a POP charger ..
Struts.. Tokicos are nice.. I'm thinking of trying out a set of the KYB GR-2's now.. the Tokicos are getting kinda floaty after only a few K miles.. I dunno just a few suggestions... welcome to the group though .. what part of the country do you come from?..

First, Thanks for making a newbie to the Maxima scene feel welcome. As Lordrandall said, "Beware the mod bug." Believe me, I am trying to keep Maxine as stock as possible (Even though the hot rodder in me has other ideas <eg>). As far as the upgrades are concerned, I have changed my mind altogether on the tires. I am going for a set of Dunlop SP Sport 5000s (H rated, of course). After talking to a few people at different tire shops, I chose the Dunlop because I needed something that would have a long tread life, deal with the snow we get, as well as be able to handle the pothole ridden roads of Chicago. The change in tires should cure my shimmy problem.
On the other stuff, I am definitely upgrading the radio soon. I'll be damned if I pay $235 just to fix a display on a radio when I can get a whole new one for that price.
I will get the brace from Courtesy Nissan to enhance the handling. I plan to get the foglights but I am looking for the foglight switch from the SE instead of the one PIAA comes with.
I am considering a matching spoiler for my GXE. If someone's parting a 3rd Gen SE or GXE or can find me one on the cheap, let me know.

the mod bug got ahold of me and it doesn't want to stop. It spends all of my money for me, but I somehow have $$$ left over for the g/f. All I have to say is thank god for summer jobs that pay well! You have to love to hate it! Speed costs money. The faster you wanna go, the more you gotta spend.

LET THE MOD BUG BITE!!!!

Cause I tell you what....If anything else, "Maxine" will love you for it, you'll be able to hear her growl everytime you throttle her up! You'll get better gas miliage (I went from 270 to 370 with mods!) and she'll live longer. So, give Maxine the car version of viagra and Modify her the way you would want to be modified! Besides, you're hooked if you're already looking to get a FSTB....am I right? So, go outside, kiss her goodnight and dream of track times under 13!

Must...resist...mod...bug

270 to 370 hp? In a Gen III? Considering I come from the world of Mustangs, Z28s, Impala SSs and that ilk, the hp number is quite impressive. But in my case, I really want modest hp gains (maybe 20 hp) and to improve the handling.
The only things I may consider are the Y pipe, and a K&N filter. But rest assured, the other mods will take effect.

Ha, Ha, Ha...

No, no! I said 270-370 mpg (miles per gallon)! I've never had my car dynoed, I have no idea about the output. There's only four things engine wise I've not done, ECU, alunminim flywheel, underdrive pulley, and Nitrous. Otherwise, that extra 100 mpg came from an Ignition system (Jacobs I.C.E. pack), fuel pressure riser, 5 degree advanced timing, custom CAI, K&N filter, and straight pipe exhaust (used to be dual). Not to mention good tune up parts like NGK plugs and 8mm wires.

Food for Thought

Well, peeps. Let's just say the mod bug is getting harder and harder to resist. I just looked at some 17" Kosei Seneca RG rims and liked the meaner look. I have already requested the GTS headlight blackout for a Christmas Present. I am going to raid the nearest Auto Parts store for a K&N filter.

However, the newbie is in a quandry over Y pipes. I can't seem to decide between Cattman, Stillen, and WarpSpeed. Also, with the 17" rims/tires, will I have to get my camber adjusted?

btw, on my drive over thanksgiving, I drove over 1000 miles and used under 2.5 tanks of gas.

yup yup.. mod bug here too.. welcome to the group!

The Warpspeed performance stainless steel Y pipe is a steal at $350. Now as for modding I believe suspension and brakes should be done first . Like FSTB, ST sway bars, axxis metal master pads, SS brake lines. Then you do the SS Y pipe, JWT ECU and your choice of intake.

GOOD CALL ON TIRES

Good call ontires,

i have dunlop SP4000's on my max and Dunlop SP5000's on the Accord. i like my 4000's but the 5,000's last longer, are better in the rain, and are grippier than any other tire for the money i've ever used. We have just bought SP8,000's for our CRX roadcourse Car. i'll let everyone know how those are. When looking for size of course wide and low is the way to go. NTB told me they wouldn't fit so i put em on myself but i put 215 50 R15's on my max. It dropped the ride height (measured from bottom of mudflaps) almost a full inch. only problem is the Speedo is way off now. it's now 1.1:1 so when i'm going 10 mph, it's really 9, 100 is really 90. by the way anyone know how to recalibrate that?

SP9000's are the way to go. I have not tried them in the rain but doing over a buck they hold like glue on dry pavement.

Mods

Now I am wondering if I have to make any type of camber adjustment if I get 17" wheels for my GenIII.

Cattman will macth Warpspeed by the way.

and no you won't need to toy with Cambers unless you slap on 17"s with some VERY low profile Tires.
I.E when Les Schwab put togeather a package with stock springs and struts, and Enkei Katana 17"s with Low Profile tires, and it would drop my car 2". I looked at the guy like he was smoking crack and left.
hah

If the car drops 2" then you will have to play with your Cambers yes.
