It really depends on how the tranny has been treated during it's life. At this point all you can do is to continue regular maintenance and not worry about it until something happens if it does. Here's what I have done. At 90K i had my tranny flushed. A flush can only be done by a dealer or one of those Jiffy Lube type places or your mechaninc. It will completely drain your tranny of all fluid and replace with new. I DON'T recommend this if your tranny has never had this service. If it hasn't just continue to change your fluid as normal. For further prevention, you should add a tranny cooler. For 50 bucks it's well worth it to prolong the life of your tranny. Go to http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?threadid=40401 for info on coolers...

I heard you should only install the coolers if it's more than about 90F degrees outside. What do you think? Should I still have one on my car throughout the Fall, Winter, and Spring when it doesn't get above 90? Thanks.

I am located in Las Vegas right now...in da sig. But, I am moving to eastern NC in the winter. It gets up to a humid 90-100 degrees in the summer. And in the winter it gets down in the mid 20's sometimes. I think I will probably install the tranny cooler when the heat starts to turn up next year (above 70). I have heard great things about the Hayden 403. What does everybody else think? Thanks.
