Tire question
i'm not too sure about the tire size....but there is a wheel and tire forum on the .org you can go look at, or you can donate and use the seach function yourself.
about the black box thing, are you talking about the little 'pedal stop' box? or another box?
i don't have a pedal stop, if that helps.

iirc the throttle body has a stopper that keeps it from extending past the WOT point... so if anything you're just putting your leg's weight against the throttle cable. i say have someone hold your pedal to the stopper.. then see if the throttle plate has any rotation left in it. if it does have a little more to go, remove the stopper. if the stopper stops it exactly at WOT and you can't turn the TB by hand any further... leave it there. when you stomp it you don't wan to rip the tip off your throttle cable from not having a stopper.

i hope you read the edited version. I totally forgot about the TB having stoppers on both ends (thus perihelion point vs overrotation is not a problem). but the potential vulnerability of the tips of the cable is enough reason for me to leave it in.
mine hasn't been on two years, no problems because i don't "STOMP" on it. i do put good pressure on it, but not past the point where i feel the engine is actually properly using the fuel being delivered....i.e.: when you are going 25 in 5th gear and you 'stomp' on it, and all it does is -bog-, the engine isn't properly using the fuel.
use the method caped suggested to find out how much extra cable you have at the stopper point.

That tire size is over 4 percent larger than stock, so your speedometer would be off, too.
There is a tire and wheel section that has a tire calculator.
That tire size might fit (depending on your offset) and would increase the diameter of the tire size by over an inch (quite a lot).

EDIT: just checked... i used a pole to hold the pedal down, and there was NO slack left... at all.

235/45/17 is about the ideal 17" size for our cars. 245/50/17 is more like a Mustang or a Charger or something. pretty tall tire. you'd lose some power in the gearing and add a lot of unneeded weight to the drivetrain.
I'd recommend to keep shopping for another set of wheels.
then again if the price is right, you can always buy it for the wheels and have the seller dismount the tires and ship wheels only.
