Howz about next weekend? 90% chance I'll be in town, John...

OT note: a buddy of mine should be taking delivery on a C5 Z06...tollway test drive FTW!

I actually have an I-pass. $40 is worth it for the hassle of toll booths...even if I only visit the city a couple of times a year...

Here's the latest. I just got a call from her and she told me she was on a break from work and was wondering if i'd be available later today. She said she needs to "talk" and wanted me to meet her somewhere after she gets off work. She also said before, that instead of mailing a check she wanted to give it to me in person. She seems hell bent on meeting with me for some reason. Either she's gonna attempt to off me, or she wants to get freaky deeky in the back of my smashed up Maxima. Should I pack the heat or pack the plastic?

I saw an ad on craigslist today for a $300 '89 5 speed that just needed a clutch. I called the guy, he said it had 102k miles so I took down his address and headed out the door for the 30 mile round trip. All I had to do was drive by because it was a flippin 2nd gen.

On the way home I decided to get off at the u-pull-it exit, they had a white 3rd gen with good doors and I had my toolbox on me so I decided to take them. I took the driver door off, squeezed it in the back seat of my car and took it home, then drove back to the yard to get the rear door.

After removing that one I checked the B pillar and went outside to compare it to mine. Mine is definitely dimpled in about 1/4-1/2" It was hard to tell without a straight one to compare it to, but there is no question. It's not terrible, but it's not going to be as simple as just swapping doors. Luckilly the yard has a 30 day return policy, so I didn't buy two doors for nothing if I just decide to scrap. Honey dip says she wants to go through insurance now too. We filed a claim yesterday, hopefully they're quick about it.

This has been the most interesting thread in the 3rd gen section in months. Nice work, hectic.

Is that the Foster U-Pull-It? I miss that place. I used to live at about 148th in Powell and I was down there all the time.

You didn't happen to see any 5th gens in there, did you?

"honey dip" the other vehicle owner haha?

also have you considered taking off the trim panel off the bottom area of the pillar where the seatbelt motor is, taking that motor assy out, and trying to carefully bang the pillar back into shape?

looking at the FSM, this should work just fine

were there any CHO SEs? me needs spoilah/trunkildwithspoilah. well i don't "need" but when i can afford one i reeeealy want one. So if there is one lemme know. my local JY has officially lost my business, unless i do a 5spd swap

Yeah it's Foster. I have to agree, it's good times roaming around seeing what they have. Even if you don't get anything, it's worth the $2 admission. It was probably $.50 back when you lived here.

Nope no 3.5 swap kits

Good thinking man I just took the trim off and checked it out. The space where the motor bolts in, is directly behind the hinge where it is tweaked, and there is more than enough space to work. I suppose I can just take a steel bar or something and butt it up against each hinge nut welded on the inside, and pound with a hammer. Thanks for the suggestion, I don't know if I would have bothered to look and see if it wasn't tubular at that spot.

Sorry, no CH0's that's why I settled for white doors

I need a 5th gen MAF sensor. I am sure they probably scrounge those out and sell them at FAP, anyway.

I think it was $1 to get in back then. If you didn't buy anything, they would give you a card for a free admission the next time.

I remember going in there and taking parts from five or six 68-72 Datsun 510s. I actually recall one that was mint, but no engine or tranny. Not even any rust!

I still have my original 510 emblem and some Datsun fender emblems in the garage. I have one from an old Z that I was going to mount on the back of my 510.

It was a dollar until a year or two ago. The first time I went there after they raised the price, they asked me for $2, I immediately said "Two dollars??", like it's a lot of money or something. But a 100% increase is a lot

I'm sure they had a lot more 510s back in the day, as far as older Nissuns, they usually have at least one 280z or z31 there, they have an 84 Max right now. I thought I saw a 510 a few months back at first glance, but it was an old Corolla I think.

They never have cars newer than 10-12 years there. I've seen one fourth gen and it was a 95, that was within the past year.

how great would it be if one of her friends is an org member... and she's read all of this. that would make my day.

how's the door pillar repair coming, or are you letting insurance handle that?

All you need is a mini sledge hammer and take the front seat out so you have room to get a good swing!

hey guess what!! I just got hit, 11:05 EDT. So, an hour ago. Damage is VERY minor (paint scrape, mirror flipped forward) but it was a hit and run so I called the cops anyways but it is not reported to insurance. They can't probably find the woman who hit me even with my description of her car and her and where she was going... so I guess we all pretend it never happened.

Synopsis:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Six+Fo...i=map&ct=title
click 'hybrid' and zoom in another two clicks. turned from eastbound lassiter Mill to southbound Six Forks. Right lane was backed up as soon as my car was pointing straight in the lane, so i switched left behind a gold accord, which was the only car i saw coming southbound (i turned right on red) when i turned so i waited for them to go on and i went into the middle lane.. then went ahead over to the left straight lane so i could eventually be in the lane to get on the inner beltline (I440 is a full loop. Clockwise = inner.. no east/west since it is a full circle. It's signed as Inner or Outer). Well as i was turning, apparently i was going slow still since i had just allowed the honda to get on by, and the red cavalier that hit me came out nowhere. Honked, swerved left, still scraped me and flipped my side mirror. She was in the left turn lane at that point, so i rolled over past that lane into the /////// section, and she went BACK to the left straight lane... stopped, looked at me coyly, covered her mouth her hand, shrugged, and left. I didn't get a plate number. I think she was speeding though, because it's 35mph along through there but most people do 60. Now we know why there are speed limits, so your car can stop in time if someone (like me) does something you don't entirely expect.

but it's all good. no real damage... I'm skipping school today though because a) police took up my transit time for my first class and b) my radiator is about to pop and I don't want to drive another 35 miles on my nearly-dead radiator. I've got a replacement radiator next to my bed, so that too is all good.

Well that sucks, she just zoomed off or what? Appraiser is coming by today to check out my car btw, which is why I haven't started on repairs. I did wash it, clean door jams and detail the inside last night though, it's probably cleaner than it's ever been right now

she got back into the lane she swerved out of, covered her mouth with her hand, went "omigosh oops" and went on about her day. didn't roll down her window, didn't follow me into a parking lot, didn't put on her flashers... NOTHING. She just went "oops" and left.

BUT THERES MORE!!!!

got a call from the cop at 1pm on the dot, saying that she called some 20 minutes later. 20 freaking minutes! after she LEFT THE SCENE! Stating that her head hurt, she was going to the hospital, and that her bumper had a dent in it (chevy what did you expect?). So now it is getting reported and stuff. Now this is my first 'accident'.. and fault is debatable in this particular situation, because I changed lanes legally, signalled and everything, and i did look out my window, but i was going slower than traffic and she gained on me... i assume she was going 20 over since almost everyone does on that road but since she was behind me i can't say how fast she was going. I saw clear but if she was coming at me so fast, clear doesn't last long. On the other hand she left the scene for whatever reason, and didn't call for a relatively long time.

So what is gonna happen? Am I getting a rate hike? Am i totally screwed?

OK so now this ***** is talking to a laywer, went to the hospital the day of the 'crash', and wants my insurance info. When i called her, she said that I LEFT THE SCENE (i moved 0.00mm from the moment i stopped at the scene to the moment her car drove out of my view) and that she called the police right away as soon as she got to a phone. Police said she was at the Exxon but couldn't be found at first. Exxon was BEHIND us not in front of us. And seeing as how i saw a red cavalier pass the other way just befoe the police arrived 25min after i called... no way she was at the exxon waiting for 30 minutes. She wasn't even there..

but yet she wants to milk my insurance for all it's worth.

bull. fukcing. siht.
