Keyswitch?

I believe I mentioned a while back that I was having starter problems. I replaced the first one and although it didn't just wrap out like my original one that went bad, it still would click for a few times before it would start. I thought at first that it might have just been another somewhat faulty "duralast" autozone part. Well I've swapped out two starters now and it's still doing the clicking but now it's getting worse. So bad that I've had to compression start the car a few times. But somedays it will just start right up. I checked the mating surface between the starter and the transmission and it was pretty dirty. I cleaned that and my main ground strap coming off the battery but that didn't help either. I'm getting all the proper voltage readings going to the solenoid and everything. The strange thing is that if I start the car with the remote start it never has any trouble what so ever. Does anyone know if this could just be a key switch situation maybe?

just jump the wires on the ignition switch (or at the starter) and see if the problem occurs or not. if it doesn't occur then yes it probably is a bad switch.

You beat me to it, I was just about to post the very same problem. Mine is the same way, Starts with the remote, but no more with the key.... its very annoying and I also changed the starter. I was thinking the switch too, but didn't want 2 keys.

Yeah I will probably get a new switch from Nissan. I don't want some crappy cheapo key. I guess I'm wierd like that. As far as the two keys goes, if have remote start I'm sure you have your locks tied into your alarm so you won't have to use it all the time or anything.

even the dealer gives you a cheapo key.
anyhow, get whatever one you can get the best deal on and take it to a locksmith and have them rekey it to match your current key.
