Headlight problem

I've got a headlight out on the right side. Tried replacing the bulb and no luck. Had a shop look at it and they wanted to replace the headlight switch, but wouldn't guarantee that it would solve the problem. Could a faulty headlight switch affect just one headlight like this?

Where should I start testing connections?

yes it can. visit a junk yard. stupid thing to say but change the fuse (the on in the engine bay) even if it looks good. also if u use after market bulbs make sure all the connectors aren't melted or corroded (spelling). 1$ of fuses or a 5$ harness is always better than a 20+ $ switch!
