Just picked up a 91 SE 5spd for 300 bucks black on gray, 17'' wheels black with chrome lip its lowered i dont know if the previous owner heated the springs, or if they are a/m <(aftermarket) 314,xxxx miles i believe that the engine has been replace before.i popped the hood and notice yellow writing on the valve cover and intake plenum.Has minor body damage,needs driverside fender and headlight.everything else is fine my wife already has dibs on the interior she just wants the front and rear seats i have dibs on the trans and the wing im gonna get it running take for a test drive.pull it into my buddies shop and look things over to make sure the parts are worth selling and in safe working order.Parts that can be rebuilt i'll have them rebuilt before i sale them. if i rebuilt the motor and trans those are being kept shipping will kill me unless its a locale pick up.After things are said and done you guy get first pickins i'll post pic a.s.a.p oh one more thing when did the SE go over to dohc and the gxe done sohc

The SE went over to dohc in 92. It's an incredible car when it't tuned and running right.

someone swapped in VE gauges... If they put in the cluster w/o switching the odometers out, then there's no telling the actual mileage on that car.

Wow thats an awesome buy, I'm jealous! For that price, you can't go wrong! Course the yellow writing shows a couple of salvage yard parts, but that's nothing bad. Doesn't look like there's any rust either, and that's a big PLUS.

3rd generation 89-94
1st series: 89-91 SE has SOHC VG30E and 125mph gauges and tach dashes at 5500 and redlines at 6000
2nd series: 91-94 Se has DOHC VE30DE and 145mph gauges tach doesn't dash anywhere, and redlines at 6600

those go up to 145mph... and on a 91... that means someone changed them

92-94 got the 145mph and the VE on the SE models.
91 was the production date, so some places may call it a 91, but for technical purposes it's a 92

mmm... tails look 89-91 SE, looks like it was just a cluster swap...

 

actually tails look GXE to me unless they did what I did. But it looks chrome to me. could be wrong.

 

either way... center console = 89-91
