Bump shifter

My cousin (who is pretty proficient @ hopping up mustangs) told me over the holidays that I could install a universal bump shifter in my 92 ve auto. Has anyone seen this done? If so. What is involved? You know mod wise.

are you bracket racing?

it's a pointless mod on a street car

Wouldn't give me more manual control over my shifting?

it may help to describe what you want to do with it. like internetautomart said, its mainly used in bracket racing. if you want cheap control, start in 1st, shift to 2nd, then drive at whatever rpm u want

nope

Ben has it correct you just push the shifter forward from 1 as you want to shift, HOWEVER if you want real manual control over your shifts, you'll need to wire switches into the solenoid wiring and have a control box in the car, which just adds another place to have a problem.

if you donate and search you'll find that someone has discussed doing it here before.

Control over gears = 5-speed swap. As often as ppl end up with auto problems in our cars, I wouldn't be modding them.
