PCM Interchangability

Will there be any issues using the pcm from a 90 vg se in a 94 vg gxe? Both cars are auto. Do accessories make a difference, i.e. keypad locks, digital climate, etc.?

PCM? Pulse-code modulation? Maybe you mean BCM? Not sure, since the the keypad locks didn't exist back then, especially not on the SE's.. Give it a try. Might be safer going with a 92-94 GXE BCM.

I dont know what you guys are talking about but if its the ECU, I know there were 11 diffrent numbers for the max IIRC. For my 93 it was 93 specific. PCM same as ECU?

PCM = Powertrain Control Module
BCM = Body Control Module
TCU = Transmission Control unit OR Time Control Unit (2 very different things)
ECU = Engine Control Unit
ECM = Engine Control Module

The guy refers to the module as a PCM. I just assumed he was in need of a ECU, but wanted to use his terminology. The FSM didn't refer to a PCM, now I have verification.

So now, is the ECU (computer) interchangable between these two models?

if ecu=pcm, your answer is mebe a "no"...
i do not see why not, since its the same motor, 'cept mebe different sensors... i don't think thats the case, but why would they need eleven friggin' ecu models?!?

Sorry bout that.. There was a 92-94 GXE commercial I seen somewhere online with the gold GXE and they were talkin about the keypads like it was cool new technology on Maximas. I guess that just stuck in my head.

Are the same as the vg ecu? If yes,then no,they are different.

Or are all ve ecu's the same? IIRC,the ve auto ecu's are different from the ve 5 speed's ecu.
