JK, nice work goon!

I knows... I'm trying to switch it up some, really, thats the best scheme with the limited high temp colors I could, or you could come up with .

Performance wise, there is no difference. As far as clearance, in the max (3rd gen) it puts the wires too close to the hood IMO (potential short) but it will bolt to any VG and work properly.

FYI: The pathfinder and quest/villager distributors are identical.

Does that pic mean you decided on a paint color for your engine bay as well?

I'm still preppy it for paint.. So I havn't decided, But I may just keep it black.
I need to finished putting the last parts on the motor, set it in, tuck some wires, then remove the motor, finish preppy and cover useless holes, then paint.

About the pathfinder intake, since it was a simple swap over, I had to make it difficult .

I'm still in the process of shaving of the unneeded masses of aluminum.

Here's what is looked like before I started on it.

I was going to keep all this hush hush, but.. Things are so dead around here, maybe it will spark someone to try something new.

from a 98 vg33e.

I may not use it, the quest intake may prevent me from cutting a holein my hood.

well, there's that (maybe) and the fact that it's a more efficient design. The lower intake manifold on the maxima has the runners being offset from each other, like in blootoof's pics. The pathfinder has them all in a row.

I'm trying to work in a pathy intake because the maxima one though it ok for NA, still has alot of restrictive bends and drastic 90 degree turns. And the daul throttle body is just silly to me.
Part of the problem making if work is making it fit under the hood. I don't want to... I'll probubly end up cutting my hood and making a bubble or something over it.

i wonder how a cowl-inducution-look would fit on our cars, or if it would be an eye-sore.
d'you think the "bubble" would look as bad/good as the eclipse hoods?

Another reason some seem to use it is that it doesn't run near the exhaust manifold like the stock VG manny does.

Goon...I'd like to see some pics of the outside of your car if you get a chance. Your motor looks so sick. I take it that both the Pathy's and the Quest's manny will work with out hood modification??

I'm to the point where I'll either sell my car soon or keep it and dump cash into the engine...so I'm trying to figure out my options. I'll post up some pictures of my engine bay as well probably by next weekend...I'm glad somebody FINALLY gave some love to the VG's on here.

This place is so VE happy...not that there is anything wrong with that...coughcough....lol

Well thats because it can take it.

And I didn't mean modding the VG in general...I just meant that on HERE specifically I noticed a lot more people leaning towards the VE and I could never understand why.

I'm not saying the VE doesn't have its high points by no means. I mean come on...you start OUT with 190 hp lol.

Nice Max you have their btw.

Thanks, but I think your a bit uninformed about the VE..
The VE can take the turbo just as well if not better,
and the reason why the VE gets more love around here is because it's the obviose choice.
And trust me my friend, that 190hp does not feel like 190hp..
More like 220+ IMO because of it's 'really ahead of its time' technologies.
The VG lacks all of that, and is just a simple sturdy motor.
Try doing 150mph in a stock VG

Well I was under the assumption that the higher compression ratio of the VG was more suitable for the turbo setup...thats why some many people turbo the VG over the VE. I'm not saying the VE CAN'T be turbo'ed by any means...but the VG can handle it with less modification.

When it comes to HP, I can't see how thats true. Isn't it realistic to think that the 160 hp rating on the VG is crank?? Which would run to the wheels more like 140-145 hp??

Taking that into consideration wouldn't that also mean the 190 hp is crank giving the VE at MOST 175 hp??

Please correct me if I'm wrong...I'm not trying to be a know it all or anything...just get my facts straight.

And as far as 150mph in a stock VG...thats clearly unrealistic...hence why it usually HAS to be turbo'ed. Not saying that a NA VG can't go upwards of 150 built. Granted NA building the VG is EXPENSIVE....it can DEFINITELY be done no question.

Dude this is a thread about liking VG's. They get ripped apart everywhere else, let them at least have this thread. The way people talk about VG's you would have thought they bought a piece of crap. Go brag about your VE in any other thread, but just leave this one alone.

Now you wouldn't go into 4th gen thread and rip on a VQ. I'd appreciate you wouldn't about this VG SPECIFIC thread.

I've buried the speedo after swapping in a 145mph gauge and w/o engine mods.
I don't have any real current pics.. The whole front end is being tore apart here's the most recent.

Well I went to the JY and bought a quest intake, Turns out it sit EXACTLY the same height as the pathy one I have(Specifically from a 98 Infinity QX4 with a vg33e). I'm just going to use the pathy one because it has a bigger tb.

Lookin sick goon.

The question of compression of the VG liking turbos is off. LOWER compression is better for any forced induction. What makes VG my engine of choice is the strength. It can take over 25 lbs of boost and 600hp on stock internals. The VE cannot say that. Yes it is more expensive to build but at least there are parts thanks to the ZX guys. The VE does not have the aftermarket support that the VG does, at least from what I have seen. The VE guys love their engines and rightly so, it is a strong running engine, but for me it is VG. No clackity-clack.

nice engine bay but where is the turbo to back up the gtr badge? lol!

anyways so does the pathy intake fit under the hood with out cutting a hole in it? if so ill get the one that i have on standby at the junkyard. also what did you guys do about the idle controol? because looking at the parhy intake manifold there isint a bung or a bount for it does that mean that ill bave to make a special bracket for it. or is there a special wiring harness to put it to work with the idle on there already.

also looking at the position of the throttlebody if it fits ill be making a 90deg bend with 2 flanges and throttle beackets on it ot move the throttlebody to a better position. interesting.....

For the idle control I was going to make a bracket and mount it where the egr valve was connected (I run without one anyway). The older pathy intake you can the TPS swaps over, the one I have I need to rewire, BUT all the resistances are the same

Thanks

I'm really torn about color right now, seeing as how I need to decide sometime soon. I'm 60% wanting it black and 40% on this light greeeen I saw on a either 600 or 700 series bmw. I need to research and find that color, it was really basic and light, but it looked Sooo clean for green.

I vote for black emerald pearl. That was the color of my previous maxima and I loved it. It looks like it's almost black, but it's more unique. IMO

Got a good start on the radiator support today
I wasted hours trying clean up the old support and just threw it away...

I can't complete the support till I can muster up dough for Good hood supports.
