car problem
Hey, maybe you guys know what's going one here. I was driving home tonight and my max suddenly de-celerate itself for a short moment while my foot was still stepping on the gas pedal. then it started making this noise like you're about to floor it. vroom vroom!! It happenned as i was getting off the freeway but the sounding is back to normal now. I'm thinking its the belts, cus they have been making so i use the belt conditioning spray on them alot. Could this be the problem? Do i need new belts? Does using to much of the belt spray causes the belts to loosen up so the belt doesn't get a good grip on the pulley causing slipage? Any thought is appreciate. It's too dark now. I'll have to take a look tomorrow. i was hoping to check it out while the car is warm up. Also, i didn't let the car warm up at start so i was wondering if this could be a factor. Anyway, thanks y'all!
You need to be a bit more specific on what maxima you've got. What year and what model, SE or GXE? better yet, VE or VG?
Its not your belts and you do need belts and you should NOT use belt dressing, If I remember correctly all belt dressing does is eat them away.

it could be quite a few different things.
a lot of diagnosis will be needed and I don't recommend doing it over the internet.
first start with basic maintenance, like BELTS. a tuneup etc...

Was it raining? I recall an incident when I was taken by surprise by a camouflaged puddle I ran into. Water went everywhere! Then about ten minutes or so later, while on the highway in rush hour traffic, it started to decelerate and then it struggled as though it was low on gas. I later found that it was due to water getting into the intake manifold. Fortunately no serious damage (doesn't really matter anymore as I no longer own it).
Yes, it was raining pretty hard in Seattle last night and cold too. My car is a 93 GXE. (I thought this info is already posted on the profile section.) I didn't really let the car warm up at start. It was still running cold after like 20 miles on the freeway base on the temperature gauge. So as I was exiting the freeway slowing down slowly, the car started stalling and de-celerating on it's own kinda like when you're shifting gear. That stuttering feeling. Then the noise pop up, sounds like a high power fan blowing. As for the belt, it was making noise so i use the the belt conditioning. I think it is the pulley belt. It the one close to the oil tank with the bolt for oil change. After the belt is condition, the car runs find, just until last night when that start happenning. I'm going to check it out now. Let me know what you guys think?
