Electronic climate control lights?

Do I have to solder something in the unit? The unit goes dim, it used to come back with a hit to the dash, now it doesn't. I tried searching didn't really come up with anything, I can't search back too much for some reason

It's a toss up with the climate control. Sometimes resoldering the display legs will work. Might as well try.

the lights (or LEDs) have legs that get soldered to the board. they are what carry electricity. the solder goes bad, for whatever reason, just like the solder jobs on most of the clocks.

Well the DCC only has 2 LEDs, one for the recirculate button and one for the defroster. The display is like the clock, it has those segments in it that get lit up depending on whats getting displayed. It goes dim just because of bad soldering joints obviously, but there are some problem spots i would check. Looking at my spare one there seems to be several capacitors, and they can go bad and most likely have, try unsoldering them and repalcing. Also, theres a harness inside the unitthat goes from one circuit board to the other, i would check/solder the joints this harness goes too. And as suggested the legs for the screen could probably use some new solder. This is just a suggestion based on taking apart my spare DCC that dims occasionally, personally i think its the capacitors, find exact or similar replacements and go for it, should be good.

That happened on mine too a while ago, except that a good hit to the dash still does the trick. I've completely replaced that wire strip that goes from one board to another, and resoldered all the screen legs, but it still needs to get hit to work. So where can I get some of those resistors?

hmm I have the same problem. I took the unit out and brought it to a electronics shop, and the people there told me this problem was not fixable due to a leak in the screen (referring to auto acc)

Do you mean the capacitors? I would imagine an electronics store like radioshack, but youre best best is via some online company, just search. Look on the sides of the capacitors for there voltage rating and uF rating.
