Does your spare tire cover slide around with the sub mounted to it, or did you bolt the cover down to something else?
I posted a pic of my sub mount a while back, but the hosting site went down. I used U bolts and stuck them to the metal brace behind the back seat. It works very well and my sub doesn't move, even in the hardest corners. The bracket has bent a little bit, but nothing bad and you can't see it, anyway.
It also sets the sub deeper into the trunk for more space. As an added bonus, it is almost impossible to take the box without removing the back seat. I guess someone could take out the screws and remove the sub, but that would take some time.
Here is what the bracket looks like:
Here is my set up. I have kind of a large box. With something smaller like yours, it would be even farther back.

model
Its a Rockford fosgate P2002 200 watt I think
the sub is a P2
as for it not sliding its heavy enough to stay down when braking hard or turning cause I put a long nail through the frame
as for drilling, where would be the best place to put that boost controler?

those brackets dont vibrate? if they do, eh screw it.. id just throw some epoxy gasket sealer around them LOL if you dont want to screw down into the sheetmetal.
but ya gotta clean up that HU i think, like someone else said about putting that control somewhere else.
id just leave it in that original pop out tray, cut a hole in the back of the tray, and whenever you wanna control it, pop it open.
we all know the cup holders SUCK, so might as well make that tray usefull. lol

I have one in mine that I bought from a fellow .org member. He has some good sources as it used to be in his daugther's car before someone t-boned her and totalled it. He got it brand-spanking new and said it was for an Infinity. Not sure of the model or year, but something to help get you started in the right direction anyway.

Mine is a sliding tray that replaces the open hole under the HU. When not needed, you push it in and it clicks closed. When needed, just push it again and it slides out at a very controlled pace. Really is a nice little mod that most people don't even notice.

yea
The sad thing is that that mod is possibly the most benificial mod that you could do to this car! I WANT ONE

depending on your cars options you may be able to stick the boost controller in the dash where an unused switch spot is.
