No.....

You do not have to take the window out to replace the regulator.

The actual replacement is much faster than removing all the tiny glass.

for the fronts and rears or just rears? i replaced a front regulator on a friend's 3rd gen on saturday and removed the glass. didn't try to remove the regulator without doing so mainly because the regulator was stuck in the up position so i kinda had to take it out so i didn't have to guide it back down. front window removal is EASY anyways. dunno about the rear tho.

I have replaced both front and rear regulators and did not have to remove the glass. It might be less frustration but you don't have to.

I did remove the glass when I stripped VE#1 though. I still have the glass I believe in the garage.

I would take all of the door panel apart and vacuum everything really good with a shopvac and try to get all of the glass out. Go over it multiple times.

I'm gonna have to do this. I'm not sure how the windows are put together inside, but mine is off some sort of track. It doesn't stay up on it's own. So, I had to jam some card paper in between the frame and window to get it to stay up.

your window regulator is bad, fairly common and cheap/easy to replace.

Cool. Any specific way to get the window out? Door panel, plate behind door panel, etc.?
