i posted this in gen forum also but i dont know if you check over there and since i know you are the PRO in here id like to know what you think
92 mazda protege, as i was driving this p.o.s as a temporary car cuz mine is gone,i noticed the check engine light went on and the hold button also (hold button is for tranny,puts car in 2nd or 3rd gear i guess for winter) so i checked under the hood and noticed the alternator belt was shredding but still on there working ok,(also belt is only 3-4 months old ,was replaced over summer) so now im driving and all of a sudden the car is reving at 2500-3k going 20mph as if my tranny is going to die so i put it in 2nd gear automatic to drop rpms and keep at 20-30 mph,i had to drive through brooklyn in ghetto areas 3am to get back to queens cuz i could not take the highway ,why would my alternator belt cause my tranny to have problems or is it a coincedence

fixed the belt ,the light is still there and i noticed that when i first start the car up i got about 5 minutes ,or i guess till car warms up till lights start going on,well now i assume a soon to be dead tranny......yes 2 dead cars in a month how unlucky can you get
