Factory Service Manual

Could someone please tell me whether a 1990 FSM is good enough for my 1992 Maxima? Are there any major changes between the two?

Thanks.

yes/no. If I remember correclty, there were quite a bit of changes in the wiring through the years. The 1990 didn't have keyless entry or a door lock timing module for the power door locks. I believe that in 1992, the radio wiring harness changed (similar wiring, but different connector). Finally, I believe in 1992 a new engine was added, the 3.0 DOHC 24V V6 190hp for the SE. The VG engine in the GXE and 1989 through 1991 SE is completely different than the VE engine. However, for most body parts, dash trim, and if you have a VG engine, most of it should work. Good luck.

like Vmok said, most of it will be the same
it will have your VG engine in it
however many parts of wiring will be differnt like he mentioned

one correction to vmok though:
all 3rd gen GXEs did come stock with keyless entry (buttons on teh doors)
91+ maximas (SE or GXE) came with door lock timer; 89&90 did have power locks that controlled all the doors, but it was done a different way

You're right! I didn't even think about that. I was thinking keyless entry as in wireless, but the keypad is also a keyless entry! Good catch.
