240sx fuel pump?

as some of you know, i have a dead fuel pump and im desparate to drive my car..i hate bumming rides from friends and parents.. well this kid i work with totalled his 240sx (ripped bumper off, bent frame slightly) a few monthes ago and i asked him if i could take a few things, he said i couldnt take anything major like the engine (block, head) and transmission or body stuff, but pretty much everything small was mine if i wanted it.
so i'm wondering if the fuel pump will fit and work on my max..

i was just thinking, install it and order the walbro one in a few weeks when i can afford it.

define "dont cost that much" find me one that i can afford.. as of right now i'm getting a walbro GSS278. if you can find me something just as good for less, than i'm all ears. they're suggested retail is $176.78, so i'm estimating i should add like $5-$10 for shipping and thats too much for now, which is why i asked my original question. i'm sorry i dont have an extra almost $200 i can just order a fuel pump with. christ, i'm 17 years old and i pay my own EVERYTHING on top of trying to get good grades in school. its pretty tough when your parents wont let you work more than 20 hours a week and still have to pay them on time.

Call a local dealer that is helpful and ask them if they are the same part #. If they won't help call Courtesy. I'm sure they will help. They're pretty helpful.

i've checked everything there is to check. i currently have my interior out(slowly installing stereo) and i've noticed that when it doesnt start or runs very badly (constant stalling) i dont get a hum from the pump when i turn the key to "on" after the engine has been sitting. i've cleaned my throttle body, replaced fuel filter, ran some injector cleaner about 900 miles ago when i got the oil changed, replaced the sparkplugs (which made it worse so i put the old ones back in), checked everything i can see and get to.
also, when i turn the key to "on" i can hear the relay click, but when it doesnt hum for a second, i know its not going to start.

it may not be the fuel pump. it could be electrical. IIRC the VE has intermittent problems with the coilpacks on both banks of the engine.

uhh, when u replaced the spark plugs did you gap the plugs right?

and did you try using different wires. the factory could be old and worn out.

check if the fuel pump is even getting power, using a voltmeter

VEs dont have plug wires.
why wouldnt the pump be getting power? if the relay clicks, doesnt that tell you it is?

coilpacks wouldnt affect the pump not pumping when the key is turned to "on"
