Idle Pulley bent?

Idle Pulley bent?
So, trying to get an AC belt on my AC (hopefully it's the only thing wrong with the A/C) and I noticed the idle pulley is on an axis while the AC pulley is straight, anyone have any clue what this could be? also, whats the best way to tackle the belts? they're far off in the left hand corner and it seems almost impossible to get to some of the back belts from the top
Also, just bought a new transmission from ebay so I can swap mine and finally go over 35MPH (prolly ruined my motor in that process -.-) so we should be getting to the yard sometime soon to replace some other things

you may have to twist the belt flat and slip it past the pulleys to get it up and over onto the pulleys. as for the a/c one... that sounds rather strange what you're describing. Can you take a picture, or make a diagram or something?
also how did you ruin your motor, as you say?

potentially harmed it by running on a transmission that wouldnt upshift past 2nd, thus having to drive around san francisco at 35MPH and having to rev up to 6k rpm to actually keep up with traffic for small periods of time

so your engine shouldn't be that messed up by it.

Don't know which engine you have, but on the SE it's easiest to pull the front passenger wheel off, take off the fender liner splash guard , both upper and front lower, and you can get at them easiest there. If the idler pulley seems loose, make sure the pulley axle nut it tightened. It will wobble if this is loose. (To adjust belt tension you loosen this nut, then turn the adjustment bolt on the end of the pulley mount)

As mentioned, taking wheel off gives lots space.
For me, taking bottom splash guard off to access steering pulley & tightening bolt was enough. Check this writeup and give out an opinion: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/748507/23

Wasn't bent, was broken, was just sitting on the bolt, fun fun (I can see why there wasn't a belt on it in the first place, now I just hope the AC system works)
even taking off the fender guard it was hell to get off. it's like the only spot thats covered by metal on all sides.

Replace the whole tensioner assembly. it's not that much. bearing is only a few bucks, but usually the pulley won't accept a new bearing. they get bent or lose clearance or something when the old bearing comes out, and the news ones never press in properly or wind up falling out.

hate to bump such an old topic but I finally got around to fixing it. one problem. the bolt holding the pully /w tensioner, won't come out, isn't it supposed to pop out the bottom? I believe it's also holding part of the bearing on it which isn't good -.-
