18inch wheels

I've looked at a few threads but i just want to know a little more. For starters what are the stock rim size for a 1994 maxima?. i want to put some 18inch rims on my max but only if they wont cause any problems. Will the 18s limit performance? speed? will they drag in the wheel wells on sharp turns?

i wont want to put the 18s on the maxima if i have to alter the suspension/springs.

thanks

I didn't have to modify anything back when i had my 18"s on the max. And IIRC, i felt the handling was improved, as i didn't have so much 'bounce' as the stock wheels had previously....but that might have been the pirelli tires, moreso than the rims

EDIT: could have just checked my sig pic :P

18s look sick on third gens. If you wanna stagger the look go with some 19s on the back. Never all the way around tho. The engine is in the front so the weight will make it easier to bend a 19 because of the profile tire you would have to use. I don't have any clearance issues even after the drop. Check out some different offsets. Your local rim man will be willing to work with you to sell some wheels I bet.

Modify your engine so it can turn those huge wheels.

I have 18 in Katana's all the way around on my max the ride didn't improve nor get worse. I like the way the look a lot. I think 18's are the perfect size not too big or too small. You won't lose performance, speed and you shouldn't have any clearance issues. If you already know the rims you want and have the $$ don't hesitate (and see how many compliments you'll get lol). I personally didn't like the way my car rode before the rims and I still don't like it but not because of the rims its because every part of my suspension setup is the same since I was 5 years old. IMO I think you should go even on all fours I like stagger fitment mainly on coupes but do what your comfortable with.

"Gotta be on atleast 18's can't be sitting on minors" -Fabolous

EDIT: btw you should plan to get shocks and springs anyway you'll feel like your driving on rails which is too fun!! I know I'm saving all summer for em'

I've got 17x7 MB drifters on my "90" with Suspension Techniques Springs and Sway bars! I wanted enough aspect ratio to still be comfortable , sporty and speedometer right on the money with the plus 2 step up to a 225/45/17 BF Goodrich G-sports. Factory aluminum rims are 15x6.5 with 205/65/15 tires....

18's shouldnt give u any problems as long as they are not too wide i tried putting 18x8.5s on my 92 SE they were hitting my struts even with spacers

Worn suspension is a safety issue, should've made it a priority ahead of the wheels.

I would have taken care of that had I got the car at the beginning of last summer but I didn't get my max until late august 07 which was like a week before the fall semester started. My last check of the summer wasnt fat enough for suspension kit so I bought wheels for super cheap instead. But this summer I can do a lot fixing/modifying and I will start with suspension
