i think it really depends on what sort of oil change regimen the previous owner had. using cheapo oil, cheapo filters, not changing often enough, will cause the VTCs to clack earlier in life. so as long as yours are quiet, keep the oil flowing and drive happy

DATS RIGHT MAXIMA FOR LIFE

Yeah, VEs are so unreliable, they can't make it to -3 miles.
Nice Greeny, take a pic in the palindrome mileage.
Also, an airplane pilot once said "If people took care of their cars like pilots did of their planes, it will last them a long time."
It's good to be a Maxima Veteran, huh?

the body on my '93 probably has less than yours cuz the last time i saw about 260k miles on my vg was aug. 7, 2005 then i swapped in the a 105k mile vg and has put about 27k since aug. of '05. so its about 10k+ miles less than max. damn these cars last forever. i love it!

i got 175,xxxkms on mine, bit of a vtc clack on startup when i bought it, put mobil1 5w30 and havent heard them since, id rebuild them but most people say it comes back so whats the point, maybe for pwr gain? i duno, oh and we still got the oringinal oil filters here(canada) the ones that were discontinued, my buddy that runs a mr lube stocks them even, its sweet
or maybe its old stock, i wonder now.. not like it matters, only one other ve in the city, hell in manitoba that i know of

lol Naw man, it's the real thing...
I'm the first to admit these engines are a little quirky and hard to work on if you don't know what makes them "tick" so to speak. but once you get in tune with all the ve's idiosyncrasies, they really are a great and reliable engine.

Great engine lies below the quirk, I think only a select group realize that, seems like too much "work" to set them straight; but so rewarding if treated correctly, one of the tightest engine's I've felt before. I can't wait to get my spare set of VTC's in there and finish off my LIM/TB boring; that's probably all the mod's I'll do engine wise so lets hope it lasts 170k more miles of modded VE goodness

What are you talking about man? Everybody realizes that. And yeah, swapping engines, rebuilding or grounding VTCs every 20k miles, replacing knock sensors, coil packs, buying toyota filters and worrying that you might hit a rock and smash that horribly located filter destroying the engine is a lot to worry and think about compared to waiting until it's time to throw another timing belt on the VG.
BTW, what the hell is the vg so freaking great for anyway?..virtually inaccessible timing belt, which if it breaks will destroy the engine, crappy oem injectors that fail well before a ve injector even gets broke in. , yeah, we all love replacing injectors @ $100 bucks a pop X6..Yet my first injector to go out was at over 300k(btw, the same injector was used in the vq series engine)..here, let me go on some more...75% of the vg's out there are mated to the exclusive vg crapomatic autofailic transmission. We all love to replace/rebuild these @ $1200 bucks a pop, yet the ve auto is good for well over 200k without any problems. Then lets talk about the ve vs.vg from a performance standpoint...yeah, we all know where this will go..
Then we talk about $100+ tune up costs on a vg ( plug wires $50<--if you get the cheap crap/ plugs $20/ Rotor cap $25/button $5-10) Yet the ve just needs plugs.
Filter location? c'mon dude, i am so low i can literally push a aluminum drink can on it's side around with my control arms, yet i have never dented a oil filter.
Don't start no sheit about the ve by comparing it to the vg..
