CARBON CANISTER HOSE CONNECTION BROKEN - Still Safe To Drive?

There's a 3-way hose connection under the carbon canister. The middle branch that aims upwards into some metal hole is severed. The plastic pipe nipple coming out of this metal box busted off when I moved the hose.

Anyone know what on earth this hose does?

depends on what one broke. there is one breather from tank to canister and well if your in cali they not use a pair of needle nose type vise grips to pinch it at can and pressurize your gas tank to check for leaks lol. good luck. junk yard has a tone of these 3rd gens and canisters. still safe to drive if you haven't noticed any change in idle or how it runs.
