Intermittent Wiper speeds

Intermittent Wiper speeds

Is it just me or is it hard to find a speed for the wipers on intermittent that works good? Either too fas tor too slow. I got bored and timed it..on the fastest it cucled every 3 seconds and the next speed slower was ever 26 seconds...

just something i notice everytime it rains

well there's no perfect speed.. it kinda depends on the quality of your wipers and if you have rainx too. and how clean your windshield is. mine REFUSES to stay clean no matter what and that's what pisses me off. i just modulate it as i need to, or turn it off and do a single flick for a single wipe. a mist feature would have been nice.

well it's not quality of the wipe really, its that when the fastest speed is too fast the next speed is like 8 times slower.

get a universal kit to add intermittent to a car that originally was not equipped.

I just flop it down and back up every time it needs it... if it's raining harder than that, I just leave it on the fastest intermittent speed. Mine work fine, but I'm thinking the motor is getting tired because the fastest they go isn't very fast. On my dad's new F150, on the fastest speed it actually rocks the truck left and right. Hah. I RARELY use my wipers though, I usually just don't drive in the rain... but when we have nice weather, I wash my car once... then every morning go and wipe down all the windows with invisible glass and go over the whole car with Ultimate quick detailer.

yeah its not a big deal just a stupid design imo. wondering if anyone else noticed it. i guess the reason i notice it is that my 4runner, the delay options are evenly spaced out and it is easy to "dial" in a speed that matches the demand.

my wiper motor might be on its way out too... sometimes fast isn't very fast, and on occasion they don't go down all the way when i shut the wiper switch off.

Hah, same here... that's why I nabbed the parts car's before I got rid of it just in case.

i could... but my parts car's engine bay has been exposed to the elements for a month w/o hood now... so it may not be any good anymore.

For wipers not going all the way down, check if motor is secure to car. My screws came loose and it would run slowly and not go all the way down. It is a possibility.

Try cleaning the contacts on the rotory thingy behind the 4 screws on the motor. Pain to get to, but not too bad. Might want to find the smallest gap snap ring pliers you can find to make things WAY easier- if you don't have any. If you don't have the tools you need to get the screws out... get them... and add them to your tool box. You'll be glad you did.

i'll have to look at that.. never examined the motor so i dunno a whole lot about were stuff is on it.

depending on where the chassis harness from under hood and radiator support travel on some nissan's i noticed it goes above the drive tire in fender well. cars that are to low can rub through the fender liners and tear into wires and melt wires together grounding them out. wiper issues usually arise from this. goods luck.
