Suspected problem, looking for confirmation

I suspect my '92 GXE has one completely bad injector and one of questionable integrity. Idle is rough, low RPM acceleration is rough and bad, after about 3500-4000 rpm it smooths out. I had no choice but to drive the car awhile early this year, so I was driving it like that and at one point it started running SIGNIFICANTLY worse, it actually would die if you put it in gear with your foot on the brake if you didn't idle it up. I've checked a few different times by unplugging a spark plug, and twice unplugging the #2 spark plug had no affect on idle, and twice unplugging the #5 plug had no affect on idle, but disconnecting the #2 plug DID affect the idle (these times). For awhile, after I'd been driving for a bit, or sometimes from a cold start, the car would run fine, but now its constantly feeling like it has a single cylinder miss.

I plan on having the local parts store have a couple reman injectors overnighted ($95 each)..

Check the resistance between the pins of the injector. Should be between 10-14 ohms.

i went through 2 boxes of kleenex when i read that

1) remans are 100% pure $hit.
2) you can get brand new ones for just a tiny bit more, from a member on this site who specializes in maxima parts (internetautomar)

edit: too slooooow haha

I'm aware of Brian's store, and purchase other items from him, but the local store is owned by a family I've literally known all my life, I grew up with the owners son. No one else gets any of my business that could go to them.

They can get new injectors as well, it just takes a day longer because they come from a different warehouse.

well you may as well have them get the new ones then, because you'll be getting them in 2-3 months anyways.

i went through this same thing not long ago. One of the two remans I bought were bad (50%) and I had to ship it back for replacment. No fun at all.

Well, I went ahead and bought 6 new injectors and did em all..started last night, picked up the last 2 injectors today, swapped em in and buttoned it all back up..including replacing about 3 feet of worn/cracked/hard vacuum lines, it all totaled about 4-5 hours of time spent working on the car, taking my time and making sure to do everything right, total cost was a wee bit painful at about $800 after tax for 6 brand new injectors (about $121 each), complete upper end gasket set, and a 6 mm allen head socket..There was no charge for the vacuum lines, or for the 4 feet of high pressure fuel line I forgot to put in..

Car runs great now, however, now when I start it I have to turn the key twice, turning the key to the on position for a few seconds then turning the key to start doesn't do it..My mother had an s10 blazer like that, it ALWAYS started on the 2nd turn, but would NEVER start on the first turn..As long as it doesn't get worse, I'll be happy with it as-is for awhile.

Oh, after checking all the old injectors, 3 of em had NO continuity what-so-ever, one was 28 ohms, one was 34 ohms, and the other was 0.07 ohms..

All the new injectors were 11.9-12.1 ohms..If I had asked, he would have ordered a bunch of em and let me check em all til I found 6 that were identical..I don't think that would make enough of a difference to be worth the time.

I ordered 2, checked again via unplugging spark plug wires while it was running and unplugging cylinders 1, 2, and 3 had no effect at idle, cyl. 5 affected it on that run, but after shutting it off and starting again, cyl. 5 had no effect either..I figured if I was going to replace 4 injectors, I might as well do all 6..So I went back and ordered 4 more, but only 2 more came in, he ordered 2 more after confirming that I did infact want all 6..

I wouldn't have been interested in used injectors even if they were free, but I appreciate the thought

As i said before, I won't deal with any online retailer when I can get the same parts from the locally owned and operated shop. MAYBE if they offered BRAND NEW bosch injectors for like, $20 each, but then I'd call BS and not trust them with my money anyway..
I honestly can't say enough good things about Gleasons..They are usually SLIGHTLY higher on some parts than AZ or o'reilleys, but they carry some harder to find items, have a full machine shop that can do every bit of engine machining except test and balance crankshafts, and REALLY take care of their employees, who all KNOW the parts they're selling, not just how to look em up in the computer..For the area, they pay pretty well, and after 10 years there they give them a bonus check that will yield $5,000 after taxes are taken out, at 20 years they give them a $100,000 bonus check (after taxes), and a 2 week vacation to the Bahamas for their whole family..The same people have worked there for years..the newest guy there has been there for 8 years now, 1 other thats nearing 20 years, and one thats been there for over 30, Earl Gleason originally opened the store and "sold" the store to his son, and he now works in the machine shop and his son runs the business..I grew up with Earl's grandson, who actually has no interest in the store, even though he worked there sometimes while we were in highschool.
