removing leather on bottom part of bucket seat?

is it possible? is the leather just air stapled / nailed in? is it possible to remove? I need to remove mine because they have gaping holes / splits which need to be resewed. also, anyone think it's irrepairable? i need to go over it badly with leatherique when it gets fixed. all hard and scaley. need smooth and supple plez.

pix for your amusement.

they use what are called hog rings.
cut the old ones to get it off, use new ones to put it back on.

when you do this, post back on how bad the sewing was, and how hard to re-stretch the cover over the bottom. I need to do all my seats, and, fortunately, the seams are not ripped, just the stitching.
