well.. my build thread is basically my write up. and... the problem with making a 3rd gen turbo kit is very few people would spend as much money it would require.

Yeah, so much easier and cheaper to just get a different car. I was considering a $500 running 86 Camaro with a 350. Nobody could tell me the Maxima would be an easier and higher potential platform than it.

It's cool that you are setting records for Maximas and I'd be real happy if this car got some publicity. If you know like 4-5 guys got 400hp+ Maximas and raced them at strips and killed alot of the Honda competition and etc. more people might mod Maximas and more companies would make stuff for them. I don't mean that 4-5 Maxima guys are all we need but I think that if even a tenth of the states had seen a fast Maxima tear apart a Prelude we'd have stirred up at least a little havoc. I know it's probably not possible to convince the muscle car crowd that a 400hp Maxima is a reason to ditch their 7 liter hemis but more crap is available for Civics than anything and the D series engines are trash unless you never want to hit 250hp and a Maxima can be had for about the same price.

What you say is true. Your build thread is awsome! Given that, I may not have the time or expertise to follow along with everything you have done/are doing. So, if I am crazy enough to dump the money required into my Max what would it take, and would you build it for me for the right price? Thanks.

build it and they will come, eh? i need to learn how to do stuff like that b/c i have a project car idea that would require the fabrication of fully-custom headers to clear some mods that would get in the way of the exhaust.

I want to hear this idea....because as is my best idea for maxima performance is a remote mounted DSM turbo and that does not get in the way of anything that would require super dee duper headers.

it's nothing like that. and i don't publicly post information about my major 'concept' mods until they are [mostly] finished, because, well, we get enough of that around here already.

You want to put an LS1 or two under the hood? Use a quad turbo setup like the Bugatti Veyron? Make a ridiculous 6 turbo setup with 1 turbo for each cylinder?

I'm just kidding. Yeah, any of my plans are out in the open. I hope someday I can get you guy's respect for doing something for the community whether its assembling a bolt on turbo kit at a decent price (that hopefully would at least get me $100 per kit) or whether it's just figuring out how to do some mod and posting a write-up.

oh don't worry... IF my concept mods work, i'll post plenty of info about how to do them, or depending what it is, make them to sell them. i'm just not into preemptive bean spillage, if yaknow what i mean

Still some of us are curious and we may be able to help. I can't build you a camshaft or anything but as a machinist (well...future machinist) I can fab up any sort of round or rectangle shaped piece you need. If you gave me dimensions I could ream holes within a couple thousands of an inch of perfect on one of the school mills, I can get just about any other dimension to about a tenth of a thousandth of an inch. I can't weld (never tried anything but spot and oxyacetylene for long enough to learn anything) but for anything within my area of expertise I can give you top notch products.

My current side project is building a 2 stroke engine and It's coming along quite nicely despite being on vacation from school till august. It's exact internal dimension aren't exactly commited to my memory but the cylinder head is 1.5 by 1.5 by I forget. The tolerances you can imagine are very exact since the smaller an engine is the closer everything has to be to perfect to fit. I think if I take my time it should be an easy project. Only things that worry me are the cylinder liner and the crankshaft.

well one mod i'm doing is the craziest set of taillights you'll have ever seen on a car... i've NEVER seen them on a car, ever. I've seen them on a motorcycle, but not as indepth as what i'm doing. i might need someone to help with plastic fabbing.... i'm going to have to do the soldering and wiring myself. it's gonna be a HUGE mess (of wires) but it'll be worth the trouble. in the event that happens, i'll make a thread about it... no need to hijack this one with talk about that.

Meh this thread is pretty much over, it was a single link to a thread and besides we are talking about our turbo maxima dreams. Either way you are talking some confusing crap on the tail lights. If I did anything regarding tail lights it would be some 240SX, 300ZX or Skyline tails. Though I find that any of those is too much work.

then you shall have to wait and see . taking stock housings, gutting them, and doing everything 110% custom.
