a/c function

whats going on,
every since i had my a/c working the cooling fans are on low.
never bothered me till today.

i went to pick up my brother, left from there picked up my sister while waiting for her the a/c was working fine.
about 5 minutes into waiting the a/c stops working. The idle goes to normal and the air got kinda warm.
but once i put it in drive it started working again.

i was told the fans should work on high.
the high relay works (tested it by removing the ect sensor).

and they said it could be becuase i'm a little low on freon.
not low enough to hurt the compressor though.

i dunno if the eccs depends on only the coolant temp if so then this could be the reason why the fans only work on low.

the coolant going into the engine while the a/c is on gets warm even in 95*F weather...i guess becuase the coolant mixture is 30/70....

so can someone shed some light on this please...thanks

my radiator fans only kick on high for position-4 A/C... the rest don't run the fan (or maybe run it on low)

there no need to worry about it...it all happens automatically..there is a A/C cut control system...it stops the A/C for few minuts wen there is alot of load on engine or its too hot to prevent any damage...most of the time it happens in summer wen its TOO HOT....

and ya it stops the A/C in one more condition...wen u push ur accelerator to the max..again to prevent so much load on engine....

hmmm....position 4?
i never checked it when the blower fan on max.
burhan, the engine was warm...which i love that fact.
and i was in park.
but it's supposed to be hot today too...so i'll see.

i did check the fsm and it said if the coolant temp isn't above 201*F and speed is below 12mph then the fans are on low.
at speeds 50mph or more they're off....

i think the reason the fans don't run on high because of the coolant 30/70 water mixture.

i could be wrong though.
thanks...

top off the refrigerant and see if that helps.
your system is probably so low that the low pressure cut out is kicking in.

by FSM:- when the accelerator pedal is fully depressed, the air conditioner is turned off for few seconds. This system improves acceleration when air conditioner is used.

When topping off your refrigerant, be sure to use the right type..If you haven't retrofitted to r-134, don't mix the two types..r134 refrigerant turns the oil for r12 to wax and will send your compressor to a very early grave..

she's been retrofitted.
this happened only once.
when i floor it the a/c cuts out, then comes back on like normal.

i checked the coolant and the mixture is 30 antifreeze/70 water.
the level is fine.
and as posted before the engine does'nt get hot either.

okay how many cans is good when you completly refill the system.
2 or 3....

iirc the a/c is supposed to turn off during WOT since if you are flooring it you probably care more about acceleration than a/c...

That is correct.
A/C compressor turns off under full throttle conditions

i was in park at idle.
only thing that was on was the a/c no radio nothing...did'nt feel to good.
and according to my owners manual it's 30%antifreeze/70%water 5*F or more.

and i left it like this because someone told me that the vg has no bleeder screw so we bled it a different way but curiousity got the best of me and low and behold the ve30e has a bleeder screw....so there's more water than anitfreeze but it's still a lil green.

today it was hot out made 2 trips for my job....a/c ice cold.
oh and i must say it's nice to rarely see the gas gauge moving.

but as for the r134 cans how many total should one use....2 or 3 cans?

IIRC (I'd be more comfortable saying this if someone gave me the r12 amount from the fsm to work with), 3 cans of r134 would only be if it was empty and had vacuum pulled on it..plus the oil..

the amount (based on the sticker under my hood) of r12:
1.9-2.1 lb(0.85-0.95 kg)

oil type: suniso 5gs
amount: 6.8 FL oz(200 ml)

Wow, ok, in that case, 1 can of r134 would be the MAX I would put in to top off, as the car would only hold 2 cans if completely empty..

I encourage you to take the car to have it topped off at a shop..If you choose to do it yourself, I can give you some rough guidelines to follow if you haven't done it before..

well...from what i read r134 needs to operate at a higher pressure than r12.
also since i'm not a math wiz i went to one of those sites where it converts
according to that site 2.1lbs = 33oz....
but i don't know if that applies to fl oz, someone wanna correct me on this.
