and I hope matt doesn't think i'm so much of a "dumbfcuk". I try to be open to suggestions, and set people straight about the idiocy of the vast majority of proposed engine swaps. I just get a little too uptight about the non-mutuality of the terms VE and SE, and the fact that nobody looks in the stickies (tho it would be nice for a few hardcore 3g guys around here to totally refine the stickies... i'll help if help is wanted)
Why does engine swaps get you so hot under the collar. If a guy wants to swap out his vg for a vq 3.5 let him. From what I can see it's not hurting you any. I wouldn't mind having 3.5 power combined with 4 wheel independant suspension of the third gen. Kinda of a sick ride if you ask me.

kewords: majority, proposed

i love to see engine swaps. when they're done. not stupid noobs (or even longtime members) swearing to some false prophet that they'll be putting an RB26DETT AWD setup under their maxima, or a VG30DETT in any form, or any stupid crap like that. People just fail miserably at exhibiting any form of mental function, most of the time.

Wiking was back around for a bit, Greeny has been nonexistent lately, TripleG posted something recently, GRNMXDMON is still here, and Michael has been MIA for a long time (to name a few).

With the exception of a few, not a whole lot of interesting stuff around here lately. I still lurk, answer questions every now and then (usually someone gets to it first), and think about what the future holds for my car (get new car and sell or get new car and keep). FYI: freshly painted replacement bumpers to be installed very soon, pics when they are on the car...

Oh, and the tranny, interior, and other various bits from Todamax's VE-5 (R.I.P.) live on in my car.

I have been here a few years. I never understood why the old guard (like Matt) kept getting so annoyed with the noobs, but I am starting to understand now. It is always the same questions and arguements that have been done before.

Maybe it would be nice to document the "old" crew in the stickies. We could put their names/screen-names, date of joining, where they are now, major contributions/achievements, etc... What do ya'll think?

Maybe we could post links to all the old useful posts as well so that the "newbies" could get some edumacation before they go off on the same old crap.

Just a thought.

Oldie(wannabe) but Goodie

- Mrkanda "Mark"

P.S. I Hope no-one really takes online comments too seriously and blows a "head gasket" over stuff said on here. It would be a shame to loose any of you due to "overheating" !

Can you post some pix of it and your asking price. FYI Beemers are less impressive once you own one. I'm not tryna say don't get it, just want you to know what to expect. On the other hand I'd rather have a Beemer than a Mercedes tho.

that's part of the reason i'll never have a bmw while i'm young. i don't want to spoil myself. or is there nothing to be spoiled by?

I just remember lusting over your maxima when you were selling it - which was probably right around when I joined. Couldn't talk my dad into lending me the money, probably had something to do with the red + cf.

Opportunities lost...

There are pics in the link in my sig. I am pretty familiar with BMWs, my dad has had a 99 528i, 02 330xi, 05 M3, and an 08 335i.

Id like to get $3000 for everything:

1993 VE 5sp set up for STS/DSP class autocross
ST springs, Koni rear shocks, tokico front shocks, stock front sway bar with poly bushings, ST rear sway bar, stage 1 LTB, poly front control arm bushings, poly rear lateral link bushings, FSTB, RSTB, front camber bolts, WSP ypipe, hiflow cat, stock cat back, turbo muffler, cone air filter, UDP, ground kit, short shifter with solid shifter bushing, 9007 headlight conversion, im sure i am forgetting something

extras:
stock wheels with dead yokohama es100s
15x6.5 wheels with kumho 711s (on car)
15x8 real racing wheels with kumho 710s
ST front sway bar
ADDCO rear sway bar (never installed)
rear passenger window regulator and motor
replacement rear wheel hub
full set of wheel studs
probably some other stuff laying around

well i remember seeing some of it idling... but nothing of any sort of motion-based pwnage of hondas or anything. not that you need motion to pwn a honda, but we like to see it anyways.

I only painted the car once.

Not wealthy, just selective on how I spend the money I make. I used to make good money, so everything I have is paid for. When I changed careers into bartending (less stress more fun) I just cut back on all extras. I spend money and time on my car because it gives me something to do that gets my mind off of everyday things, it is my therapy, my escape. Without a car to work on I would probably be a serial killer.

When I bought it the stock white/dark gray rockers paint was in great shape. I painted the rockers with a rattle can paint job. I don't really consider that a paint job. You are not failing. You are very observant.
